| Ate something black and smudgy... Luma just came down and sat next to me. I pet her by her mouth and looked at my hand and there was black, looked like eyeliner on my hand. I wiped it away. Thought it was my own. Pet her more and it was on my hand again..I opened her mouth and saw black all on her teeth and her tongue is streaked black. I've looked around and have no idea what happened...I am impeccable about keeping the carpet clean as she loves to eat stuff she's not supposed to. I don't know what happened and I'm really worried! She's acting normal. What could it be? Should I call the vet?

| I would give the vet a call since you don't know what she got into. Have you checked all hiding spots & beds , under your beds & couches, behind all furniture & in all closets ? |

| She stays in our bedroom, the doors were shut, she was in her pen sleeping and I was at the computer...then she came and sat on my feet. I see black smudge spots on the carpet in different spots. It can't be eyeliner as I only use gel eyeliner, and it's sitting on my bathroom counter. I have NO idea what it was...I've looked all around. Calling them now.

| Well I called and after explaining, the lady said "Huh. Well...I don't know what you want me to say." I explained that since I don't know what it was, should I bring her in? She said "That's up to you, I wouldn't worry. She may or may not vomit." I'm confused...how do they not care that a 2lb puppy just ingested something they shouldn't have? They said if I come in it'll be a 2-3 hr wait...this is ridiculous. She's sitting on my bed chewing on a kong bone. I guess I'll look for somewhere else to bring her...

| Yeah, I got right on the ground and sniffed the spots. Nothing. I know it's not eyeliner. But thats what it looks like. Trying to think of anything close to that consistency.

| I would take her in tell the vet what happened. They can do blood work to see if there is something Toxic in her system & get the results pretty fast. Better safe then sorry. |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I guess I wouldn't worry too much. It sounds like she was chewing on something, but it doesn't mean she swallowed something large. Puppies the first 1 ˝ years eat everything. Causing her to vomit without know what she ingested, could be dangerous, they often choke if it’s a solid. I’d keep an eye of her and probably give her a tablespoon of canned pumpkin. Could she have gotten your eyeliner brush?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I take back my answer, I didn't know that they could do blood work to see if there was something toxic. That sounds like a great idea.

| I just had a thought...the only thing in this room similar to what was on the carpet and on my hand is the wick of a candle after it's burned and turns black. We have multiple candles here. They're all out of her reach but maybe some of the wick fell onto the ground and she just tried to lick it off the carpet.

| Take her to the vet and let them do tests just in case there was something bad in it. Much better safe than sorry.
