Yes, it has atropine which reduces mucus and does act as a bronchodilator...but it also has co-phenotrope which acts as an anti tussive. It is the two things together that make it effective.

Yes....my point was to mention the Atropine because I was thinking perhaps Zada's momma had probably heard of Atropine....I was not sure she was familiar with the co-phenotrope, or the other active chemical ingredients in Lomotil....I was trying to help her understand that Lomotil has effective ingredients that can help CT, not just an anti-diarrhea med. I know Zada is also getting breathing treatments, and mentioned perhaps her vet was giving the effective medications found in Lomotil via an inhalant delivery system so Zada's mommie wouldnt feel bewilderment that perhaps her vet may be missing something. Regardless, I can not imagine the torture poor Zada and her mommie are living thru with this terrible condition....praying for relief and comfort for them both.

OP: Has your vet given you hydrocodone or torbutrol for Zada? Or even tried Ace Pro?

How is she doing this am.......I am praying for recovery for Zada, but I can totally understand your dismay, seeing your baby girl going through this.....so hard.....so sad......you ARE doing all you can do for her, dont EVER doubt that....no "if's, and's or but's" .....

Yes, the OP is doing all that she can and I totally sympathize with her. CT is a very scary thing to deal with. I only suggest the things that I do because I have sadly had more experience with CT than I wish I had ever had. I found that there is a lot of trial and error in trying to tailor fit a treatment for each pup....and my vet did consult with specialists and I also went to specialists. Each one seemed to bring a bit more to the table in making things better for the pup.

I have never had a puppy with CT....I can not imagine the pain of watching your baby go through this....my heart aches for anyone suffering through this......and I too have a tendency to seek out specialists when dealing with any illness, either in humans or pets. Specialists are acutely focused on that issue and they have a vast amount of knowledge concentrated in that area....they are on the cutting edge of treatments available for that condition, and always bring the best and most up to date treatments to the table! I can only imagine a "parent" would be trying everything they could possibly come up with, to get relief or a healing for their pet, and I wouldnt want anyone in such grief and emotional chaos to think for one minute they had not done all they could do!

I am a bit lost here. Are you suggesting that I said the OP is not doing all she can? I am merely letting her know that there are other options.

This is not about the OP doing or not doing something for her precious Zada. Clearly she is doing all she can with what she is told. I have two purposes when I post. To help the OPs and their pups and also to leave something behind for other people to read and learn when they come looking for info on YT. I rarely post anything detailed unless I have personal experience...that is all I can do..share what I have learned. It is all about helping the pups!
