| Just got back from ER with Mylee All morning Mylee has been my shadow and we were out in the yard enjoying the beautiful weather. We came in, she took a few minutes of a nap before I fed her at 12:00. All fine and normal. Immediately after I fed her I took her out to potty and she started shaking her head, and crying in pain. It appeared to be her ear. Seriously, that fast. I watched her for a few minutes thinking it was temporary, but she was working herself up into a panting mess and wouldn't let us touch her ear so off we went. The suddeness of the onset of this scared me to death. Nothing! No infection, no irritation, ear is clean with nothing lodged. So the vet checked her for a dislocated jaw or a broken tooth, and her eyes for neurological. Nothing. But she is clearly uncomfortable with pain and holding her ear down. They treated her for pain and gave her something they said was similar to morphine. She (vet) said if she's not better in a couple of days they will go ahead and treat her for an infection, but she doesn't see any at this point. She's laying beside now resting but lifts her head every few minutes and shakes it and her ear is still droopy. Poor baby. I'm glad it was (at first glance) nothing, but the cause is still bothering me. It's got to be something. Any ideas?

| Ohhhhh Poor Baby!!!! When was her last bath? Could she have gotten water in her ear(s) somehow?? I gave Riley a bath last Saturday Night and all night and for the next couple of days, every once in a while, he would shake his head ferociously.... I Know I must have gotten water in one or both of his ears... I cleaned them out on Sunday with his ear cleaner and within a few days, he stopped. Hope She Is Feeling Better, Soon and that it really is Nothing!! |

| She actually needs a bath so it's not water. I was sitting here inspecting her again. With the meds they gave her, she is more tolerant, and I think she has something, like a splinter in the very edge of her ear at the base. It's not red or hot or inflamed, but I do feel a tiny bump and when I touch it right there she pulls away. She lets me touch and prod every other spot.

| Oh no...poor little Mylee I hope you figure out what it is Shelly. I hate it when you know something is wrong and the vet can't find anything. I will keep Mylee in my prayers.

It's possible. There are some leftover seasonal bees still flying around my rose bushes. Maybe she did get stung by one.

| Poor little thing. I think it is worse when they can't find anything to treat. The not knowing is killer. Maybe it is just a bite or sting. Sending hugs and prayers to both of you. Praying for a speedy recovery.

| It sounds to me kinda like a bite or sting. Mine have always shook their heads if they have an infection. I would just take her in and let my regular vet check her out. I think you said you took her to an ER vet I believe. Hope they can find out whats wrong. Poor little thing. Stings hurt so bad and even infections hurt and make them miserable. Has she had any fever? |

| did they look down in with an otoscope??? This happens alot at our clinic, and often if it is no infection, but they still are holding their ear down and shaking.. etc.. it could be a grass seed, which is very common and they have to look far down with an otoscope to see this. Sometimes they even have to be sedated to look down far enuf and they have to hold real still. and its painful. Just a thought... |

| I am so very sorry to hear that Mylee has a booboo. Sending healing prayers for her. It is so very difficult when they are hurting. All of the ideas our YT family have presented sound very plausable - a bug bite, bee sting, maybe she has a splinter in the base of her ear - or perhaps a bug or grass seed deep inside her ear canal. Please keep us updated. |

It ranks up there with strangest events thats for sure. She now will let me touch her ear and look in it as if nothing ever happened and she has stopped shaking her head. So I do think she got a seed in there or got stung. My daughter said it was nice seeing her this calm and mild mannered from the meds they gave her, but it's not the Mylee I am used to. I like her troubled spirit much better! LOL Thanks everyone.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am glad Mylee seems to be doing better. It sounds like it could have been a bee sting.
