I'm wondering why the OP hasn't posted anything since ? Hopefully that means she has been busy with the vet and care of the pup. |
checking for an update on this little one. Hope no news is good news.:(:( |

Judgmental, gee when someone asks for advice you give it, I wasn't judging this person as a whole being and neither was anyone else they were commenting on the care the pup should receive. What's your purpose for your comments? If and when anyone with more than air between their ears has an accident they take the proper measures...IMHO> that's the can we do better!!!! Quote:

So you can take 'snide' and push the ignore button next to my name, please & thank you. |
Judgemental right where have I heard that before. Sorry some people are just plain negligent in the care of there pups and need their boots shaken a little obviously the powder puffed posts arent spuring her to action or she would have posted that she took this injured yorkie to the vet |

You are kidding, right? You want judgemental, I'll give you judgemental. The OP's biggest concern was making sure the pup didn't have a headache after falling 6 feet on to a wood floor and not being able to move his legs. The thought of a head injury, spinal injury, concussion, or internal bleeding didn't cross their minds. This is someone who shouldn't have a house plant in their care, let alone a living breathing animal. Hopefully, this little pup has an angel looking out for it's well being because obviously it's owner doesn't have enough sense to. Is that judgemental enough for you? If not, I've got more. Maybe if people were a little bit MORE judgemental people would start being held accountable for their actions and the world wouldn't be such a messed up place. |

Update! It is good! 1 Attachment(s) Hello everyone, I would like to give an update after the big fall. Chipper is doing great! He is running and playing as usual. There have been no problems since the accident. When he fell he only cried for less than a minute, and was able to walk and run after a minute or two. I checked his eyes at that time and they were normal, not glassy. I felt his body all over and it felt normal and he did not show any pain while I did it. He laid down and rested for a couple of hours and there was no crying or expression of pain. I watched him the entire time. Yes, I searched online while I watched him nap to see what other peoples' experience have been, and that is how I found YT. I posted to get advice. I did not rush him to the emergency because he walked and ran immediately after he fell, and he wasn't even crying. If something was broken or he was hurting he would let me know. I spoke to the vet, and he said that as long as Chipper is behaving normally and not showing signs of pain, limping, or anything unusual, then he should be fine. If anything changes and he shows signs that something is wrong, I will bring him in for an exam. I have been watching him non-stop since this happened, just in case, and he has been just as playful and perfect as ever! I appreciate the care and concern. I felt terrible that he fell and I will have to be more careful and put him down when he is squirming. I am lucky that he is such a sturdy 3 pound puppy! To explain the 6 feet fall: I am almost 6 feet tall, and when Chipper started squirming I began to fumble him. As I am not a football player, I fumbled up instead of towards the ground, so at the point that I lost hold of him my hands were above my head. I learned my lesson - if a fumble begins, hands go down! Again, thanks for the concern. Chipper is fine and I just took a photo to show you how cute he is! Jessica and Chipper |

At all times, but especially when they're babies -- I would err wayyyyy on the side of caution. He's only been a living creature for 14 weeks -- that's a very vulnerable creature. I would so appreciate an update, and I truly hope this baby is okay. My Marcel was a very, very tiny puppy and I'm lucky to have gotten thru some close calls with him; some of the odd moments were my fault (not knowing better or whatever), and some were/are just simple accidents - which are part of life. Just please be really careful and take him in, the worse case scenario wouldn't be worth second guessing whether or not to take him. Good luck and please keep us posted. |
Ah, I missed the update - but see it now. I'm so glad he is okay :). |
Thanks Quote:
I gave an update on Chipper earlier today so please read it for more info. Thanks to all of the kind members of YT for your comments! To those who were unkind, please consider the intent of your words, even those written online. |

I am glad to hear your baby is doing well...please don't let some of the harsh posts you recieved on this forum dissuade you from posting on here or visitng the site! There are many amazing people on here with a lot of good advice. Everyone on this forum loves their dog(s) sooo very much, and some just get really concerned and it can come out as judgmental..you just have to learn to ignore it even though it can be hurtful. But what I can say is that each and every one of us on here love our furbabies and care about each other's babies as well, and want to see the very best for every dog out there. |

Sorry everyone for posting a million times!! my internet connection is screwy!! :-/ |
If I called my vet and told him my baby fell 6 feet and he didn't insist on an exam, I would call another vet. |

So glad to see he is doing well after such a fall! Thank you for the update. :) I think you may find that when something like this is posted and then there is a long pause before an update from the OP that people get antsy. They are concerned for the pup and wonder if there has been no update because as is often the case the OP doesn't care for the advise given and then posts start to get more and more heated. The people here really are passionate about not only their own pets but the health and welfare of other's pets. I do hope you can understand and do keep coming back as it really is a wonderful place to learn and share as you raise your little one. |
OP, I was so very glad to read your update that Chipper is doing well. I agree that even now, he should be taken to the vet for a once-over, just to be sure. These babies can be tricky. Please don't stop posting or reading YT - there is extremely valuable information here, and since you have such a young little guy, you will NEED the advice and support of these expert, compassionate members more than you think. So for the sake of your little Chipper, please thicken your skin and join in with ANY questions or concerns you have. The primary concern of YT members is always for the best interest of the furbabies. |
Duplicate post... |
I'm very sorry you feel that way please by all means put me on ignore...but please stay and learn. Glad he lives! Glad he is okay and not suffering! Glad you now know to rush to the vet...not the pc or even the phone. It's not what happens, it's what you do about it... I'm curious though about the vet's reaction being so lackadaisical what vet did you call? What vet would advise you note glassy eyes-if you have a healthy puppy the eyes should be glassy. I think you should consider another vet who is more proactive in emergency care and want to actually see the pup after a life threatening injury. Perhaps a member here can give you a referral to a reputable small breed vet in your area. "Trolled": when we are told an imaginary story meant to cause unrest and emotionally upset members just so when the right sort of response #27 MINE is given we can all be called rude etc. Then some hiss about never posting on here again.... This may not be the case here but that's the pattern. At least this time they kept it just at me. I'm okay with that. If you are not please by all means ignore me and stay, learn, read. There was no judgement on the individual but on the choices of the individual in this situation in their own chosen words. Plus my obvious initial feelings this was a "trolled" thread, nevertheless appearing in any Google. Yes, I could have just said, take you pup to the vet immediately. However I prefer raw, reality at times I think it's the only thing that get through to some people. Sorry I don't candy coat, especially at the expense of a puppy's well being. Amazing to me is how people get so offended by my words (look for your pup to possibly suffer and then die if you fail to seek medical attention for it) but not the care of a helpless animal being postponed for internet research while the pup is appearing, dazed & paralyzed. |
Glad your baby is ok. In the future if your baby has a fall or hits his head hard enough to cause those symptoms no matter how long or short they may be, you need to consider it an emergency. These types of accidents can & often do cause swelling in the brain that can later cause scarring which can cause life long seizures and/or death. Only a vet can tell if there is swelling in the brain & prescribe the proper anti-inflammatory. If this were my dog I would still go to the vet for a check up as in my opinion, he's not out of the woods just yet. |
