| So sorry to hear of your loss........I do understand how hard it is. I lost my 16 year old pom a few months ago of CHF..........She had the cough.....vet tried fluid pills and they did nothing. She also had a heart murmer that had worsened over the years. He told me we could try other things but it probably wasn't going to help. She had started passing out. I could not stand for her to suffer anymore so decided to let her go. So very hard. My thoughts & prayers are with you................

| I'm so sorry you lost Sprinkle that way. You were very kind to adopt her and love her after she had been a puppy mill dog.

| I'm so sorry for your loss. What a horrible experience to have to go through. We have lost animals in the past, each experience was different. Sometimes I just wish they could talk so you would know what they were feeling. I know, sounds dumb. My thoughts are with you this evening.

| Thanks everyone. This has been one of the most difficult times in both of our lives. It's not just that she died, which is bad enough. It's just that she seemed ok a few weeks ago, then things started happening that we would chalk up to other things (just moved, new food, etc). Then, yesterday morning, she just started with the extreme severe symptoms. I want to be clear that we don't know definitively that it was CHF. It was just the vets best guess, and mine. The other real possibility is bowel obstruction. She was not the type of dog to eat random things, and we mostly leashed walked her. So, if it was obstruction, based on the amount of the blood that she coughed up, it could have been an ulcer or something like that, that ruptured. Really who knows... Most of her symptoms line up with CHF, though. The hard part was that Sprinkle was always slow, quiet, and lethargic. She was always tired, and never really ran around. This is not only a symptom of a slowly enlarging heart, but signals dogs give when they are in distress. When she got real bad in the last day or 2, we didn't really notice anything different because she was ALWAYS like that. She skipped dinner the night before, but she's done that plenty of times. After 2 days of playing "monday morning quarterback", I think I'm finally starting to accept that we couldn't have done anything to prevent it. She will be missed forever. A perfect dog for our family. I know she's digging on a big pillow up in heaven right now, and curling up for a long nights sleep. Thanks again everyone.

| I am so sorry about your loss. It is so hard and no one blames you at all. We can only do so much. My little Tina is 14 and takes a water pill and pill for her heart. She also has the cough and the water pill does help some to get some of that fluid off but we are limited as to what we can do. The vet told me not to let her excert herself and she does sleep alot. CHF is terrible and all we can do is love them and be there for them until the end comes. So sorry again, I know how it hurts. RIP baby girl. |

| I am so terribly sorry to read your heartbreaking post. It has brought tears to my eyes, as it must have been so hard to see her go that way. Rescueing her from a puppy farm is such a wonderful and kind thing to have done. You trusted your vet to find out the cause of her problems and you were let down. You cannot blame yourself for this - none of us are vets and so we naturally assume that they know what they are talking about, and we tend to trust them. So, thank you for sharing your story with us, as it must have been so difficult to do so, and it will help us all to remember NEVER to trust any vet 100% - they make errors and they miss things. If our pet is not improving and/or we feel any concern, then we MUST get a second opinion. However, in your case, things sound as though they were too far gone anyway, so don't beat yourselves up. You are obviously very caring loving owners and did all you could do to help her. Just remember the love and care you gave her after her horrible time in the puppy farm, must have made her very happy. She will be waiting for you on the other side, happy and well and looking forward for more of the cuddles and love you gave her while she was with you down here. Sending my heartfelt sympathy to you both. Rest in peace precious Sprinkle. |

| First let me say how sorry I am for your loss. Nothing feels as bad as loosing a loved one and our little furbutts are every bit as important and loved as any human in our lives. Next I want to say God bless you for rescuing her from a horrid life. I know she was able to have at least some joy in her life before she left you. Finally I want to tell you that I have loved and lost many dogs. Each time I second guessed myself. I chastised myself for not doing something sooner or seeing the signs or not recognizing illness. I even once accused myself of laziness because I was asleep when my baby died. I'm telling you this to let you know that it is normal to wonder what you could have done differently or better. It sounds to me like you did everything you could. We are supposed to trust our vets and believe that they know what to do with our little ones. Don't let this turn you away from loving another yorkie in the future. You are exactly the type of people that those little lost souls need. God bless you L |
