How terrible and I'm so very sorry for you and your family. I hope you can find out what happened or what caused it so at least you won't have to wonder. Hugs and prayers to you. |
I am so so sorry to hear this news! How awful. I hope you get some answers. It sounds so strange. Have you contacted the breeder to ask if this has ever happended before. He/she may be able to shed some light with info the vet and you don't have. :( |
Im so sorry for your loss. |
Very sorry to hear the sad news, i hope you will get some answers to your questions. You and your family are in my thoughts! |
I am so sorry to hear of the death of your baby. There is no way to express how quickly they make their way into our hearts. I do know of a similar incident. The dog was 6 month old Yorkie/Poodle cross. She had a ruptured aneurysm.. Sounds very similar. Please let us know what your vet finds.. Our prayers are with you and your family as you work thru this sad time.. |
My deepest sympathy to you & your family. Nothing can take away the pain but time. I too lost my Mya at 22 weeks of age a couple of years ago and I still think of her every day and still cry sometimes! |
I am so sorry! I know the terrible pain you're feeling and I cry for you and for Cleo. I lost a little one just over a year ago from bird food! and she was gone within five hours of my even knowing she was sick, it was an intestinal poisoning. I can't imagine a healthy little girl going the way you describe, and I am so sorry. You'll always carry a sweet memory of the short time she was with you in your hearts, as we do ours. |
I am so sorry about your loss...they come into our lives and everything changes!! I hope that they find out what happened to your Chloe....I will keep you and your family in my heart!! She is now waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.. |
I am so very sorry about your little Cleo. I know how heartbroken you must be. They are so precious and it is so much fun watching them explore their new world. Please let us know what you learn. :( |

I am so sorry to hear about your loss,my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. |
Autopsy results and more questions Our family really appreciates all of the sincere condolences from everyone. Cleo's autopsy was performed this morning and, while giving us some answers, brings more questions. Almost 95% of her lung volume was filled with blood, without ANY sign of trauma whatsoever. Her liver was also significantly enlarged, leading the vet to believe it had to be some sort of poisoning. The vet said she has only seen 2-3 cases as bad as Cleo before and they were all in the setting of major trauma; broken bones, bruising, abdominal organ injury, etc. (which Cleo had none of) I consider myself fairly "hardened" as I have worked in a busy trauma center for over 12 years, but I find my eyes welling up with tears as I write this. All I can think of is her little tail wagging when we whispered into her ear as she struggled to get oxygen, which even the ventilator could not provide enough for her tiny lungs. Our vet thinks #1 most likely cause is poisoning, but from what is the question. I deal with a lot of human poisoning, but this is out of my league. Our vet was fantastic through everything, but really can't tell me what did this. Does anyone have any kind of experience/knowledge with anything like this?? I hate to blame anyone or any company, but has anyone had their Yorkie become ill/sick from granular fertilizer?? Our lawn care company applied granules to our lawn, which Cleo had access too, without letting us know!! This was 2 days before Cleo became violently sick. Of course their web site maintains all of their products are perfectly safe for pets..... but do they test their products on 3 lb. Yorkies?? With 3 young kids here in the house, we've had things poisoned proofed for a long time before Cleo came into our life and that is the only potential source we can logically think of. We would appreciate any thoughts/ideas. I do have tissue samples and blood tubes but am really not sure what/where to send. Maybe this is would turn into a fruitless quest?? |
As I read your post tears came to my eyes.. I am truly sorry for your loss, my prayers are with you and your family. I hope they find out the cause of death.. Please keep us posted... Gina |
We are so sorry to hear about your baby. You can send the tissue samples and blood work to a lab. Ask you vet what lab they use, or contact the animal control they might have a number for you. I know the University of TN, Vet school has the equipment for testing. I would definitly find some place though, especially if your lawn was treated just days prior. The chemicals couls have been absorbed through her feet, or if she picked anything up off the ground. The liver is her filter to things and if it was over loaded than it can become enlarged. Its ashame that your vet doesn't have the equipment to screen the blood for a chemical analysis. Please let us know what you find out. You are in our prayers. |
oh golly this is such bad news. I wish I could help you out but I know of nothing. It must be frustrating for you now knowing what caused this death. she is not gone, you just can't see her any more. she is watching over you. I am sure. That little baby spirit is there for you to talk to and confide in every moment of your life from here on. :littleang |
