| PLEASE HELP!!!! Brown rash on belly that looks like Dirt... My baby girl has a brown speckled rash on her belly and genital area. It looks a little scaly now or flaky. Almost like the brown spots are flaking off. She does not have fleas and it isn't dirt. I looked it up on Google and someone said it could be skin bacteria. Has anyone had anything like this on their babies?? Please help, I am freaking out and can't take her to the vet until next week. Thanks in Advance |

| Sometimes they get all sorts of little skin issues. I would say that if it is a large area and/or if it seems to be spreading you might want to get it seen sooner; but if it is staying the same I would not worry until your appointment next week. (I am assuming you mean the week of the 19th.)

| Is it sort of like dark freckles? Sometimes girls get this especially after their heat. I think I was told it is related to hormones but it's hard to know without actually seeing it..... |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | This one should be an easy one for the vet - a simple skin scraping, look under a scope for bacteria, and go from there. Could be a bit of local pyoderma, but that's usually more reddish unless progressed further - then can look brown and flake/scab a little. Vet may be able to just Rx and ointment first, rather than anti-bio. Is her urinating okay?

| TJDmom, YES!! That is exactly what it looks like. Dark brown freckles all over her belly and into her chest. Started around her genitals then went up... she just came out of her heat!! It is not irritating her at all... she doesn't scratch or lick or whine. And she is her usual playful self. <3 |

| lola had the same problem, I took her to the vet and they did skin scraping and told me it was bacteria, gave her antibiotics for 10 days and it was gone she is spayed, so it couldn't be because she was on heat, that bad news is that 2 months later, the bacteria is coming back and now she has those brown spots again. |

| Both of mine get them too and I've taken them to the vet and it's seasonal-like allergies. I just put neosporin on them and it helps but both mine don't seem to notice it at all.

| Dre1141, that would make sense with my Sophie because they started at like the beginning of the summer, when she went into heat. They don't bother her at all so I am not so worried about it anymore. I will try neosporin on them and see if it helps. |
