| My Stella might have renal kidney failure My 13 month old yorkie Stella has a bun level at 153 crenantin 6 and pacreatitis. She has been on Iv fluids for 3 days levels actually went up from 140 bun to 155 and crenantin 2.9 to 6 they were hoping it was maybe a kidney infection because she was acting very perky alert wagging her tail and did not match what they would expect from a dog with these levels. I brought her home for the weekend she is on a antibiotic and can take her back Monday for more Iv fluids or go take her on Monday to a specialist in Pittsburgh. She is my little angel and so loved by our whole family. Anyone who has had any experience with this sort of thing. I would love to hear from you. She is eating and drinking ok. No vomiting sleeping a bit more than usual but doesn't appear that sick as you might expect. Thanks,Leigh Doggy Mama to Roxie and Stella |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am so sorry to hear about Stella. A few years ago I got a yorkie puppy from the same breeder as my Pixie and Roxie. Dixie was 6 months old when I got her and seemed fine. I noticed when she peed it was colorless and odorless. I decided to take her to my vet just to check her out as I am a worry wart. They did urinalysis and bloodwork. About an hour after we got home the vet called and said she was in end stage kidney failure and nothing could be done. Her Bun and was so high it was off their charts. I couldn't believe it. She acted fine maybe not as active as some puppies but none of my are. I decided to take her to a specialist and he did an ultrasound and her kidneys were very underdeveloped. He felt that with meds and fluids she could do ok. It turned out after a week on meds that she just did not have enough kidney function to live. He said they need at least 25% kidney function and hers was 17%. I am praying since Stella is twice as old as Dixie that it is something that can be treated and she will live a long life. I will keep her in my prayers. Did they put her on a kidney food like KD?

| I'm sorry to hear that Stella might have kidney failure. Ask your vet about k/d dog food, pepcid a/c and maalox as a phosphorus binder and also vitamins. I'll keep you and Stella in my prayers. Wishing all the very best for you. |

| So sorry to hear your news. Each dog is different, but I had a previous Yorkie who lived for 8 years in kidney failure and with good care she had a great life. Lived to be 12 years old. Keep the faith!!!!
