I am so sorry to hear about Stella. A few years ago I got a yorkie puppy from the same breeder as my Pixie and Roxie. Dixie was 6 months old when I got her and seemed fine. I noticed when she peed it was colorless and odorless. I decided to take her to my vet just to check her out as I am a worry wart. They did urinalysis and bloodwork. About an hour after we got home the vet called and said she was in end stage kidney failure and nothing could be done. Her Bun and was so high it was off their charts. I couldn't believe it. She acted fine maybe not as active as some puppies but none of my are. I decided to take her to a specialist and he did an ultrasound and her kidneys were very underdeveloped. He felt that with meds and fluids she could do ok. It turned out after a week on meds that she just did not have enough kidney function to live. He said they need at least 25% kidney function and hers was 17%. I am praying since Stella is twice as old as Dixie that it is something that can be treated and she will live a long life. I will keep her in my prayers. Did they put her on a kidney food like KD?
