| Good Morning Everyone: It is just past 5.30 am and now my computer works again!!! Yesterday we had a huge power outage at 3.45 pm pacific time and it did not come back until 11.30 pm last night. Thanks to all you kind and concerned YT'ers for your compassion and interest in Austin's (and my!) welfare!! I am sorry I did not reply before but could not with no power. Good news: the eye doc called yesterday afternoon (thank God the phone worked!!!) and said the surgery went well and Austin was a 'good boy'. He was sleeping and comfortable and would stay the night. She will call today and we will decide if he is OK to bring home today, or if another day of 24 hour care would be better for him. He will have to take multiple eye drops and 3 oral meds for a while, so I don't know how he will take to all that!!! He will wear the hard cone for a while (ugh!!) and then he will change to the lovely Kiss-E collar (thanks Bo!). I do so appreciate talking with you guys and having your support, it has been tough these past weeks, but hopefully he will feel better soon and live his normal Yorkie self again. (But no jumping for a while. I will let you know how things go today after talking with the eye doc. Bye for now and many thanks. Marge |

| Hi Again: The eye doc just called and said the Yorkshire boy was doing well and eating and taking his meds OK, but being a Naughty Yorkie Terror at night!!! He was fine and quiet all day yesterday but last night kept all awake by barking all night. They gave him sedation but to no avail. So the Vet said they would like to keep him all day but if he starts the barking we had better get him home. He usually sleeps very well but the anesthetic was wearing off and he probably wondered where he was, poor little thing. He does have some (normal) inflammation that has to be closely monitored and that is why it would be better to have him in the hospital during this critical early period. So all looks well and we are feeling so much better too. Sorry for the detail, but thought it may help others in a similar situation to have a feel for what can happen to their little ones after surgery. Thanks again for caring. Marge |

| Marge, I am so happy for you and your little boy that surgery went well and that he is on his way to recovery. Detail in threads like these are great for other people who may face a similar situation. Praying for Austin's speedy recovery , and I hope you don't lose power again anytime soon.

| Hi Maximo: Thank you so much for your empathy and good wishes. Austin is progressing well and normally and the constant medical attention is very comforting in these early post-op days. The last weeks leading up to the surgery have been very taxing and worrying, but now the surgery is over, love and caring will soon have him feeling better again. Thank you all for your interest and kind thoughts, it helps a lot. Bye for now, and many thanks. Marge. Yes the power outage was a pain and I am glad Austin was in the hospital where they had power and not here last night! However, there are people far worse off with floods winds and hurricanes, and we cannot complain too much for a few hours with no power. |

| I am so glad to hear everything went well and little Austin was feeling good enough to raise a ruckus last night. Maybe you could bring a shirt with your smell on it to comfort him for the night I did that for Buster when he had to be hospitalized. I Look forward to hearing more posts about his continued improvement. I know a weight has been lifted off your shoulder. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

| Thanks Patti and Buster. Yes, I agree he must be feeling better to create the night chaos. I think he hated knowing people and dogs were there but he could not GET AT THEM to play!!! I thought of taking some personal item for him, but the hospital does not want outside items to be responsible for and I suppose to bring in germs??? I could not even leave his harness or leash. I would imaging the eye doc will want Austin to go home tonight if he is doing well, and I feel it would be best for him anyway. We should know late afternoon. We sure have a weight off our shoulders now the worst is over, but are a little apprehensive as to whether or not WE can get him to take the required meds and drops. He can be difficult with us and yet fine with Vets! But I am sure we will have a great weekend with our little Austin back home, we do miss him a lot. Hope you enjoy the weekend also, it looks as if it will be cooler than of late in CA. I will keep you posted on our babe Austin and hope it is only good news from now on. Thanks, Marge |

| Thank you for your continuing support and interest. Well the good news is the (expected) inflammation in his eye is improving and the surgery recovery looks positive and normal. We just brought the poor little mite home an hour ago. The Vet thought it best to leave him last night for continuing monitoring as he was a good boy all day. We were all set to pick him up so we were sad - but did what the Vet suggested with a heavy heart. The bad news is that he had a disturbed night in the hospital, barking, and he vomited during the night and needed an anti-vomiting injection. OK since one am. :-) When we saw the vet before picking him up she thought it was probably due to his anxiety and perhaps the effects of the meds. She did not think his problem was an issue as he was fine in other ways. He just needed to be home. He is very quiet and sad looking now and I cannot leave him or he gets upset. So it seems like he was just anxious without us. We have just fed him a little wet food and water and we hope it all stays down and that he will be his jolly self soon. When one thinks of what he has endured these past couple of days and all the meds etc, it is not surprising that his little body rebels a bit. My hubby is busy trying to work out the complex schedule for all the 4 orals and 3 eye drops with multiple doses. Quite a feat! All in all he is doing well and just needed to be home with us. Hope this isn't too much info, but if I give an update I thought it should tell the truth of his status. I will update with any progress/changes. Thank you again for sharing my concerns and your empathy and good wishes. |
