They are putting a line in so that they can get blood throughout the night and not wake her. She also is on two new IV antibiotics ... a cefalosporin (forget which one) and Clindamycin. Tomorrow she said the surgeons will explain the next steps....she is going to need daily treatments to that one wound and dressing changes and due to the extensiveness of that wound, she will need daily anesthesia. That presents a problem because of eating...they may have to put some kind of feeding tube in...and obviously they cannot do it through her throat.

I guess they are thinking a gastric tube.

There is no tear in the esophagus or the trachea. They did get a good sample from the lung for biopsy and also a culture was done of her one wound. The preliminary report on that will be in tomorrow.

I am so hopeful. She said that this little one is quite a fighter. Oh...and she said that Summer already has some fans there.

Please pray super hard and often!

YAY! I'm so glad Summer made it through phase one. I have a good feeling for her future. We will keep her in our prayers.

I have been holding my breath scrolling down the thread. I am so glad she made it through! Told husband; he has been praying. I'm sure Summer has fans at the vets already as she stole my manly-man husband's heart w a couple of pics. We will continue to pray. It sounds like she has a long road ahead. Husband will be glad to hear the news when he gets home.

Just came back on to check on Summer. I am so glad that she made it thru surgery. It just hurt's my heart so much what this baby has gone and still has to go thru. I'm so glad that she is getting such wonderful care and so much love. I know all LOVE AND PRAYERS are what is making her fight so hard. She has such a strong heart and such a strong will to live bless her heart.

MAJOR PRAYERS GOING OUT !!!!

Every time I check on Summer's progress I get so emotional - I don't know how you do it everyday, LadyJane. Summer continues to be in my prayers. Thank goodness that she made it thru surgery and is getting the best care possible.

Wow...talk about a roller coaster! Thank god she made it through, hopefully today you will get more good news. Poor baby she sounds like quite the little love bug winning over fans. Praying hard...

Linda, it really is a blessing that you found of team of Vets/surgeons/etc that are not only brilliant, but that have allowed Summer into their hearts. Personally, I think that the more emotionally invested they are, the harder they will fight for Summer's life.That truly is wonderful. As always, thank you for the update hope to keep hearing good news.
