Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Help! I need a Lab trainer with no small animals and no kids to take my Lab! I do not want my Lab to be killed. She has never hurt any of us. But I need to get rid of her because her and my Pom were not getting along, I tried to break them up but my lab just murdered my sweet little Pom in front of my kids. Please, help me find a place to give her away where she will get the attention she should have gotten from us all along but didn't. I am hysterical at the moment, in shock and guilt ridden. Please help me find a solution that will not cause another dog to be killed. I am beside myself right now and need to find a place to take my 3 year old Lab before my neighbors call animal control and have her killed!

| You need to find an animal rescue if there is one in your area, contact a dog trainer if need be to find your options. I'm so sorry to hear this happened. Best of luck to you.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I just called one. How will my lab be to strangers after we just get rid of her? WIll they really find her a home? Or will they have her killed? I can't stop crying and feel sick to my stomach.

| You need to find a Lab rescue. You have to tell any rescue what happened as the dog will need to be placed in a home with No other small pets, cats, dogs rabbits, birds, hamsters etc....... |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I of course would tell them what happened. I just wish I could find a farm to take her to on my own. Someone who doesn't have any small kids or animals. I remember even my very tame indoor Lab/Pitt mix dog would grab Casper like a piece of meat many years ago for whatever reason. She actually would get annoyed with him sticking his nose up her bottom all of the time I split them up after that. Even had to break them up when I was 8 months pregnant. In all the years I had Ginger, never another mean thing ever to anyone or any thing. I think animals are animals and larger dogs one can never predict around small animals. I feel so horrible for getting a lab and having her with Casper. THey seemed so compatible and even my mom had said how lonely Lady will be when Casper dies. We never expected Lady to kill him. Never did we see this coming. FYI Ginger is my old dog that died several years ago. Lady is the 3 year old Lab that we now have to give away. My family just lost two dogs today.

| I am very sorry for what you & your family have been through today. I used to be a vet tech & have seen the damage a big dog can do to a little dog WAY too many times even on accident & when I'm asked if I think a small dog owner should get a big dog I ALWAYS say NO because of what I have seen. I have 5 dogs , 1 wolfhound mix & all the others are small dogs & the big rarely ever goes out with the little ones & are Never left togather unattended as it's just too risky for the little ones. I do think a breed spacefic rescue would be your best bet. How is the lab around your kids ? if Ok then a home with children a bit older would probably be fine if she has not shown agression towards your kids. Lots of big dogs are not good with the little dogs & other small animals but fine with kids. |

| Ok, I just did a search for Lab Rescues in Southern California & there are thousands so do the search & start calling & sending emails. You are bound to find one to take her. A rescue would be better then trying to place her yourself as they have much more experience with the breed & will screen people so they can insure that she gets the rite home for her needs, they also have the legal rite to take her back if they see Any problem on their follow up home check, which is not something you will be able to do. Remember that all Rescues are very buisy & most are full so if they don't get back to you rite away it does not mean they are ignoring you so be patient & rite back or call a few times if you have too. I would contact several, not just 5 or 10 but 20 or 30 at least. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Thank you lillymae. I actually just sent an email to a Lab rescue. I want to her to go to a good home and with people who understand Labs. She has never ever shown any aggression. She is a total people dog. Never mean at all to my kids. Her and Casper used to even have sex as odd as it was with Casper being the male. They would always lick each other down there too and gross me and my husband out. I am still in total shock over all of this. I am sad to have to lose two dogs in one day. I just don't think I could keep her anymore after what happened. Not good for my kids and I doubt the neighbor kids would be allowed over again if they knew we kept her. I am just sick to my stomach and with it being a holiday tomorrow, it seems that all I can do is go and pay a kennel to take her for a day or two until I figure out what to do. I am sickened over this. It just sucks so, so bad!!

| Do the search exactly the same wording that I used. I'm not sure where in So Cal you are but there are some in San Diego, well there lots so you should be able to find something. Good luck & keep posted. Where they actually fighting or playing too ruff ? She is most likely confused as she most likely did not intend to have the outcome that resulted. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I actually thought they were playing too rough since these two as odd as it was would have sex and please each other down there all the time. I just don't get this at all!! They were what kept each other company all day. Lady I know was jealous of Caper when we were out and wouldn't let us pet him without her jumping in. But no one was petting Casper when this happened. The kids were jumping on the trampolene. I don't know, lately they seemed to be playing too rough more than I was used to. My son kept telling me I had to get rid of Lady. I feel horrible now, like I should have known. I was thinking this was just dogs doing what they do before they mate etc..... I wish I could go back.

| Oh you are very welcome. I hope your kids can get past this as I can imagine it must have been very hard for them & you. My heart is broken & it was not even my dogs. Try to get some rest & hopefully enjoy your 4th of july. I know it will be hard but at least it will be a distraction for all of you. Time Will heal your hearts. It might be an Idea for you to add another small dog to your family after you find a rescue for your girl. Nothing heals a broken heart like the smell of puppy breath, ya know what I mean. |

| I agree with Lillymae, I just wanted to send my Deepest Sympathies on the loss of your little Pom. I am sorry the whole thing happened and that you now have to rehome your Lab. Hopefully some can learn from your situation...
