In Pasadena, while walking my doggies late at night, I've had to keep my distance and wait for coyotes to walk away from me. My Yorkie is fearless and will bark, so I've had to distract him a bit so he doesn't realize that a coyote was about 30 feet away. Scary.

OH my, that is scary, I can't imagine having to deal with a coyote!

I am so glad to read that Chipper is okay. I am wondering if an air rifle would be allowed..Well, you would have to get caught with it as in "if you didn't see it; I didn't got it!" My friend's ex used one to pop a feral cat on the butt. It got the idea so maybe a raccoon would too...

Poor Chipper, how is he doing now ??? To be woke up out of a dead sleep to hear such a racket, then finding out one of your babies was in the middle of it all... How scarey

Our mini pin (greatest mouser, will beat out a cat anyday) was in a culvert with a muskrat and they were going at it... It was echoing which made it sound 10 times worse... The muskrat came out first, pretty bet up, then Bass Boy was hot on it's trail, but my husband scooped him up and off to the vet we went... It took sometime for his war wounds to heal, but 4 years later he looks good...

WOW! I just saw this and thought the same thing, Sue! I'da probably had a heart attack and not been any good to any one!!

The air gun is a good idea, Rini. My dad used to use one on a destructive dog that roamed the neighborhood we lived in. He wasn't sure where it was coming from, but it got to the point where all Dad would have to do is cock the gun, and the sound would make the dog run.

My grandmom (in SC where it's legal) used to keep firecrackers to toss out the window at the coons when they got in her trash. That worked, too. Luckily it was her twin sister who lived next door!

The air gun is a good idea, Rini. My dad used to use one on a destructive dog that roamed the neighborhood we lived in. He wasn't sure where it was coming from, but it got to the point where all Dad would have to do is cock the gun, and the sound would make the dog run.

My grandmom (in SC where it's legal) used to keep firecrackers to toss out the window at the coons when they got in her trash. That worked, too. Luckily it was her twin sister who lived next door!

Extra hugs and treats for both of your babies!

Muskrats are as big as the largest rat, I think! I just seems that all of us who own male (or tough female) Yorkies have to be alert 24-7!

Talk about the "Little Big Man" Syndrome, they'll take on anything! And, the really scary part is they have hardly any fat on them so all it takes is one bite, one tooth, to puncture a vital organ: liver, spleen, intestine or the like!

The other week I was flipping channels and a channel came on where instantly a giant dog broke loose and lunged (at a mailman)! Little mama, Mini, flew off the sofa, around the corner and down the hall and under my dresser! At the same moment Chipper let out a growl/bark/scream and leaped at the dog in the T.V., he was going to fight! I changed channels! Later I saw it was the "Dumb or Dumber" movie ~ and with a television watching Yorkie (Chipper) we have to be careful what we watch, he loves the Animal Channel as long as they are not showing dogs. lol

I want to thank everyone for their care and concern, but mostly I want to warn everyone to be careful and watch their little giants!

OH my, that is scary, I can't imagine having to deal with a coyote!

When I was living in Desert Hot Springs a number of years ago, a little old lady would walk her toy poodle out in the desert early in the morning. And, sure enough, a coyote came out of nowhere, grabbed it and ran ~ lease and all! I didn't witness it, but I believed it and the little poo was gone!

In regard to odd animal attacks....last year my cousin's boyfriend was walking in the woods with their full grown very large Rottie. He loved to run ahead down to the water. Mike heard water splashing and figured he jumped in for a stick or something. ....then he heard one scream and one last water sound....he ran down to the water and there was a BEAVER attacking the dog!!!! The dog must have been pulled down under the water by the beaver. Anyway, Mike said the dog seemed fine and wasn't crying and there wasn't any blood. The dog ran along fine the whole way home. Mike checked him over better and found a hole (not bleeding) in his leg. They took him to the vet. Here the beaver bit the whole way through his leg and the vet had to keep him for a couple of days and put a drain in. The Rottie weighs like 120 pounds and the beaver swam away.
