| Need advise ASAP Please could someone give me any advise, my Yorkie has gone into labour tonight and I think her first pup has come out bottom first and unfortunately has died. She has eaten the bag off it and I think she is eating the pub, I cannot get close enough to take it off her or see what she is actually trying to do because she is extremely angry. I am very worried about the next one to come out but she will not let anyone help. Please could anyone advise on what I should do, I have just left her in her bed at the moment and turned the light off. Thanks. |

| I'll post in the breeder's section for you. Unfortunately, it will be necessary to get near her and probably take her to the ER.

| You need to get to the ER VET NOW! She could die if the puppy is stuck halfway out of the birth channel. This is very serious and a medical emergency.

| Hmm. Is the pup stuck halfway out? If yes, then that is definitely an emergency!! You'll have to find someway to handle her.

| Call the ER vet, describe the situation, and ask what they want you to do. Can you muzzle her for half a minute to get her into a crate?

| If you do not know what you are doing then you need to go to the vet with her. Has she had puppies before? How much does she weight? How large was the father? Have you taken her to a vet previously to be examined during her pregnancy? Did she have an Xray and do you know how many puppies she is expected to deliver?

| Just spoke to the vet they said leave her for now and keep checking on her. Shes already in a box, we made a bed in a box for her to nest in. Im just worried and dont really want to leave her, shes a very small dog and its her first litter, Im also worrried that if we go near her she will kill any other pups she has. |

| The vet didn't want you to bring her in? I am surprised by this if she is a very small dog. I thought many times they end up having c-sections.

| I cannot give you any advice other than I would be finding vet that will see her now. This may mean taking her to an ER vet. Do you know how many pups to expect? Do you know what signs to be looking if she is in distress? This situation just sounds to scary for me to want to experience alone. The fear of loosing my girl would have me on my way for Professional Help. |

| I have never let Rosie have puppies so I can't advise there. However, I would insist that the vet see your girl. I think the first litter she may need some help. Even if she is angry, you need to figure out a way to check on her. Are there any breeders who can help here?

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | omg, THAT IS CRAZY, please call another vet and have her x ray, if she has a puppy stuck in the birth canal, she can die,I just had puppies 7 days ago so I know a little thing or two about whelping. Please she can go down hill pretty quickly, is ok to eat the placenta but NOT the puppy, at least I would never let my girl eat one. she needs an x ray NOW.. sending LOTS of prayers your way.. |

| I agree that you should probably get her to a vet. Some dogs just do not make good mothers but one of the symptoms of eclampsia is aggression towards her puppies so you really need some help here figuring out what is going on. If she is going to have more puppies, you certainly want to try to save them, don't you? I'm so sorry, this is tragic. |
