| Please pray for Ziggy Hi guys On thursday I just got my new 8 week old yorkie puppy (i live in south africa and this is the age most/all breeders let their babies leave). i did a lot of research before getting him. found a good breeder. went to her house, saw the other puppies, mom and dad. on thursday and friday he was fine, energetic and eating well. then my friend visited with her 10 week old yorkie, and my baby Ziggy stopped eating. I gave him sugar water, shredded plain chicken breast and tried mince (i didn't change his food, just added the mince at the recommendation of my breeder). Ziggy did not get better so i had to take action. I just came back from the emergency vet. they said he has worms which has caused him to vomite and stop eating and lowered his blood sugar. they are keeping him over night and have him on an IV drip. i am so scared, i havent stopped crying. The breeder keeps calling and has said I could bring Ziggy back to her house for a few days, or as long as it takes to get him healthy again as this may have been caused/aggrivated by him leaving his home then having visitors. He is up to date with his deworming and had his first round of shots. I took him to the vet 24hrs after i got him (after i read on here that its best to do that) and we got a clean bill of health. I would like to find out if any of you have had the same expeience and if your baby's pulled through? Im so scared of losing him. I keep praying he will be fine. But its so hard not having him here. Waiting 24hrs to see him seems like more than i can bare.. Please share any similar experience you may have had and the outcome.. Thank you |

| I will say a prayer for little Ziggy. I don't have any firsthand knowledge of a pup that age. Hopefully, the IV will help him. Poor little guy. Keep us posted!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Keeping Ziggy in my prayers. When I got Cali at 9 weeks and 1 pound she ended up in the er vet 3 days after I got her. She had coccidia (parasite), kennel cough and went hypoglycemic. She pulled through but I had to be extra vigilant that she was eating every 3-4 hours and for any signs of low sugar until she put on some weight and started eating better. Keep us posted please.

| sending hugs and well wishes to you and ziggy. when i brought my little pixie home at 4.5 months old (weighed 2.2 pounds) from a humane society animal shelter, she had tapeworms, kennel cough, and coccidia. she had been "fully wormed" according to the lady in charge who adopted her to us but according to my vet what she was wormed with didn't do anything for tapeworm. so ziggy could maybe have a worm that was not treated by the medication that was given. thankfully, we found all these things out before pixie was ever sick (except for a nasty cough) and she made a full recovery. we had her at the vet within 12 hours of getting her home. will say prayers for ziggy to make a full speedy recovery!!!!

| Praying Ziggy will be home soon and feeling better. It is very hard when you have to be separated.

| I always say that it is better to ask help from friends but in such a cases.I do advise to all that it becomes your responsibility to consult with a vet immediately. Its far better way than all.

| Worms I got Daisy at 8 weeks weighing 500gr and she was seen by a vet straight away. Though she had been wormed she started honking coughing on the 2nd day. So i took her back to the vet after xrays etc he gave me antibiotics after 5 days nothing changed. So we went to another vet who gave her other antibiotics still nothing changed. So i took her to the vet i have now had for 2 years and she said she had worms gave her a small amount of tablet, i saw the large worm in her movement and from then on the coughing stopped. Maybe it was the worm or maybe the antis had worked, hope this has helped a bit, i will keep my fingers crossed for your little one let us know how he is. |
