| Is This a Reaction to Heartworm Meds? Hi, Gave Bella her heartworm medication. She seems to feel under the weather. Just wants to be held in her blanket. Won't eat, even her treats, cottage cheese. Just wants to cuddle/snuggle and be held. No other symptoms. This morning her stomach was making lots of noises, they have stopped. She also shakes on/off if she is not in her blanket. Wouldn't say she is getting worse, just seems to feel under the weather. Planning a visit to the vet if she is not herself tomorrow. Has anyone had their Yorkie act differently after heart meds? Appreciate any insight you might have. She's tiny, 4.8 lbs. Do I still need to worry at 2 1/2 years about hypoglycemia if she's not eating? Thanks for your help. |

| What type or brand of HW meds? Has she had this kind before or is it new? You might want to at least call your vet and ask them about it.

| This year when Louie had his heartguard med, He threw up the next day. Never did that last year. Called the vet and explain they said to give with his food and see if that helps. That might help the stomach growlings but idk about the shaking. I would call the vet see what they say.

| Bella Update Ended up taking Bella to the "emergency" vet. She started having dry heaves and had some white foam come up. They gave her an IV to hydrate, anti nausea and anti diahrrea meds. The vet said if she isn't better in the a.m. to get her in to her regular vet. She had her comprehensive 2 weeks ago and everything was good, so he didn't want to do more testing since she didn't have a temperature, any distended, sore spots on her belly area. I am hoping she will be better in the a.m. She did eat a little cottage cheese and finally peed after 15 hours with no food or drink so the IV must be working. She is exhausted now from all the stress at the vet. Please keep her in your prayers that she will be better tomorrow. Thanks for the replies and advice, it was very mucha appreciated. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I hope Bella feels better soon. Years ago I had a yorkie who got very sick from heartworm medicine. Did the Er vet think Bella was sick from the heartworm? I will keep her in my prayers.

| Oh, just reading this. How is she doing now? I, too, would like to know which one she was taking in case it was Interceptor. I pray she is ok now.

| I hope Bella is totally recovered by now or at least mostly so. I am sorry to hear she was so sick. It's funny, but I've had times where I've taken a pet to the vet for a routine visit, only to return a week or two later. I always wonder if they had picked up something from the office, after all, a lot of sick animals are in and out of there.
