So far, Maddox is the only one showing any signs. The others are all eating well, full of energy and acting normally.

| ![]() Has the vet mentioned HGE? The classic symptom is pooping blood. Lady's had it three times. Very scary, but 100% treatable if you take them to vet right away. Bloodwork will tell your vet a lot. Dogs with HGE have a high packed volume (red blood cells). |

My normal vet, Dr. Jones, should be there in about an hour and he'll take over Maddox's care then. I decided not to wait until he arrived to start testing/treatment - I know all the doctors there are very good. But, I know Dr. Jones best and trust him so I'll feel better having him on the case.

Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis (HGE) Bloodwork will tell your vet whether they are dealing with HGE. pancreatitis or a toxin. Hopefully Dr. Jones will do a blood panel asap when he gets in since the other vet hasn't.

The other vet has already drawn the blood and sent it to the lab. The results should be back in a few hours. I didn't want to wait for Dr. Jones to get there to start figuring out what's wrong. When Lady had HGE, did she have any symptoms before the bloody stool? Maddox had diarreah yesterday, but no vomiting that I could tell.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ![]() I hope Ellie May sees this, she has experience w/ Pancreatitis. If the blood is bright red, it came from the lower GI tract and could be just some kind of irritation. If it is dark/tarry - it would come from farther up. Mucous is usually produced farther up as well. You'll get him through this; your Vet sounds right on top of this. Hugs hugs and more hugs. Sending positive thoughts out.

Lady had no symptoms before she started pooping blood, no vomiting, nothing except a loose stool/diarrhea. She was eating fine, etc. It came on really quickly. HGE is very scary. I know a number of Yorkie here have had it.
