| I really hope this is a joke, Maggie's Daddy. I'm not laughing. The hawk deserves to live in your neighborhood just as much as you do. It is your job to protect your dog by keeping her on a leash when she goes outside. Or build a hawk proof enclosure in your yard. |

| Dogs Attacked By Hawks - Boston News Story - WCVB Boston I leave a hose on and attached to the house in the backyard and a baseball bat at my front door...just in case. I would only use both to scare off the attacker.

| Yes, I know the whole food chain theory, but I'd still snipe that thing out of the tree....it doesn't have to do a thing, the idea it's there is enough of a threat for me to take action. |

| He hasn't been back since he posted his tail. Maybe he's trying to raise bail money

| I don't know if I believe the story or not but whatever it was it was entertaining. I like the followup posts even better. I live out in Long Island New York and so far the biggest bird we've seen was a pigeon. |

| I really hope this post is a bunch of crap. I just want to say it's a good thing no one knows where you live Something as SIMPLE as a pen with anything over the top will protect your yokies, everyone know that a hawk and eagle need to swoop and keep going. They cannot stop grab and go I'm DONE with this site except my friends in the Photography and that post Sparklingbluyorkies.com Last edited by Sbyork; 05-12-2011 at 10:16 AM. |

| One thing you can do and it's legal lol.Is take two foil pie plate. place the back to back nail them in a few places where you take you furbaby out. The noice from these loose plates plus added with the bright sunshine on them has been known to deter them from your place. It's worth a shot. reach up and place them as high as you can.

| I want to add from my experiance Hawks cant pick up cats or a yorkie for that matter. Hell I've seen them unable to pick up a squirrel. Their game is much smaller not something that can hurt them back

| They are scary no matter what. We did have a red-tailed hawk swoop down and pick a squirrel out of our neighbor's tree. Awful and the squirrel was all curled up and screaming the whole time. So, maybe not common, but it can happen.

| I just watched this video, it is so sad. Thank God the dog survived. I let my dogs on the deck and Sassy only weighs 6 lbs. I am going to watch them more closely. They are never in the yard alone without a leash. I see Hawks all the time, we live beside 20 acres of mostly woods and creeks and our home is on 5 acres. I saw a coyote beside our garage early one morning about a month ago.

| Although I don't think the OP's story is true, I know that our little ones need to be protected from all kinds of preditors. We use a doggie door for convience, but it leads directly to a covered enclosure (sort of like a huge chain link box). This works great for us, it allows my gang to go out whenever they need to, and I know they are safe. |
