| Strange lines on head ? Hi all. The reason I found this site was because I was trying to figure out why Cupcake has two parrallel lines on the top of her head. I read so much info on Yorkies is why I joined. Sorry for the black spot at the bottom from my camera. She is 3 months old and a few weeks ago I noticed a bald spot on the top of her head. There were two faint tan lines and now they are darket and wider. They are not getting longer or changed an other way so I am ruling out Ringworm, but what are they. They are raised a little with touch. She's happy, healthy and so playful. They do not hurt her at all. Has anyone seen this before. I can find nothing in the site and I am scared. My husband says she probably got them at birth and not to worry about it, but still I do. |

| I'd have a vet look at if the area feels "raised" when you touch it. Was it there when you got him or is it something that cropped up while you've had him?

| It wasn't there when I picked her up from the breeder. Both parents on site. Her 5 brothers all looked very healthy too. How do I add the photo ? Last edited by Happy2RV; 04-21-2011 at 05:14 AM. |

| Was the bald spot sudden? Hair there one day, but not the next? Is is possible that your baby got caught in a tight spot, like under some furniture or something, and in the process struggled to get free? Without seeing a larger picture, I just wonder if the lines are from blood under the skin like a broken blood vessel as if the skin was pinched together while tring to free him/herself from something and resulted in the loss of hair.

| Cha Cha. I remember putting a bow with alligator clip on top closer to the eyes. My sister said it looked stupid there and moved it back to this area. It was days later that I noticed the bald spot and thought it was just her new hair color coming in. Then not certain when, is when I was checking the spot again that I noticed the little lines. It is possible that it happened when Cupcake was trying to get the bow out where my sister had put it. She goes in for her last puppy shot in a week, I'll ask then and post her update. Her hair does cover it so it's not noticeable unless I am looking at it and part her hair. |

| It does look like something an alligator clip could have caused if the skin was accidentally pulled up into the clip. We use bows, but not a lot, so maybe one of the more experienced bow users will recognize this type of mark. But, a visit to the vet might be a good idea too to rule out other possibilities. Good luck with your sweetie.

| I should add....I have read on here there have been cases of permanent damage done from pulling skin up in the bands/clips of bows. I am not trying to scare you, just trying to inform you of how careful you need to be when placing bows, anytime, but when they are so little and thier hair so short, it would seem easier to pull up skin to help hold the bow in.

| I am afraid to use any rubber band type bows due to when I adopted Honey Bear (my 14 year old toy poodle). His groomer had told me back then not to use rubber band types of bows because it would break off his hair. I thought the clip would be ok with the bow on it. She's so cute with it in. The clip was put in the other way across her head and these lines are parrallel to her ears but it could have been when she used her paw to get it out, my sister must have put it in too tight. I haven't let anyone else beside my husband hold or touch her until she has finished the waiting period after she gets her last puppy shot. From what I have read on posts, it sounds like I should still wait an additional two weeks. I am just going crazy not being able to show her off. Thanks for all the replies. I was hoping it wasn't some sort of desease but will still have it checked by the vet. My husband said it looks like blood vessels, hate to admit to him that he was right and that I have been worrying myself sick over it. |

| Be careful with the clips. Puppies can get them out and choke on them.
