| ![]() Thank you for keeping us posted!! Also glad he seams to be doing well, that is what is important. Maybe you could get a taser -- I think that is what they are called -- it has an electoral current -- some people have them for protection. I got one for each of my girls to carry when they are traveling, you can't have them in carry on for flights but you can pack them. Anyway.. would not use on a dog but the click electrical sound would drive a dog off and give you a minute to protect you little one if needed.

| ![]() Oh, I am so glad that little Hepburn is doing better and his interest in dogs is back and he doesn't seem as scared. I sure do hope that he's not overly scared after he recuperates and doesn't have to suffer any ill effects from this awful thing. I know how you must feel having a strange vet operating on him but he's probably very well able to take care of this injury and we will all be praying that your little sweetie sails through his surgery and post-op period in fine shape. One thing I carry on my belt is an ultrasonic device called a Dazer II, which emits an ultrasonic sound only dogs can hear and it sure does seem to get dogs' attention when you press the button. It is supposed to be able to distract a dog that is focusing in on you or your dog. Another thing I take out on walks is a large umbrella used as a walking stick that I can open as a shield held out in front when a kind of strange-acting lone dog is approaching. The theory is it presents a large outline and is intimidating to most dogs and they back off. Thankfully, I haven't had to open it ever as have had no more walking incidences since Jilly was attacked but once it has happened to your dog, you get pretty defensive about walking your dog without some type of protection since there can be an off-leash big dog that can come out of no where. Keep us posted please on how little Hepburn is faring and please know your YT friends are keeping Hepburn and you in our prayers and thoughts.

| ![]() Hope all goes well with Hepburn's surgery and recovery. We have two large dogs as well as my little Yorkie and we always watch even though they get along well. Just takes the big dogs being a little too rough to hurt the little one. Be sure to keep us updated. |

| ![]() Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts. Hepburn is home now with me after a long day at the vet. He has a drain in the large wound on his neck and an IV port in his leg just in case he needs fluids tomorrow or saturday. He is active, has relieved himself already, is walking around and responsive. He even ate a little bit, which the vet said was ok since he is so small and hadn't eaten at all since the attack. The vet said though that somewhere a guardian angel was watching over my baby yesterday because the cut was literally 1cm from the major arteries in his neck. I can only be happy now that the worst is over and that he only suffered the injuries that he did. I need to go back on Saturday and the owner of the chocolate lab is picking me up again Saturday afternoon and taking me to the vet as well as taking me home. They have been nothing but helpful and gracious through this whole ordeal. I will update again on Saturday (or maybe also tomorrow) since he should get the drain and the IV port out then. He is on pain meds for the time being and antibiotics for 10 days (including today). At the 10 day mark his outer stitches will be removed. They stitched the wound in layers and the inside stitches will dissolve, where as the last layer must be taken out. Thank you all also for the tips about other dogs. I will certainly be more cautious than I was before but after time I am now sure that Hepburn and I can work together to get over the trauma of the attack and move forward. |

| ![]() Oh, I am so glad Hepburn made it through surgery and he is doing as good as can be expected. You sound like you are doing a great job communicating with your vet and asking great questions because you know so much abou the procedures he's been through. That's bound to help Hepburn in his healing too. So glad he had a guardian angel looking after him.

| ![]() Thank God he came through the surgery okay and is doing well. It sounds like if he is eating some on his own, toileting and such, he is doing very well for all he's been through. What a close call and no doubt his Guardian Angel was on duty! You are so blessed to have your baby getting well. Take good care of him as I know you will and just know that you have lot of prayer and support coming to you from all of us Yorkie lovers. Big hugs to you and Hepburn.
