Oh, I am so glad that little Hepburn is doing better and his interest in dogs is back and he doesn't seem as scared. I sure do hope that he's not overly scared after he recuperates and doesn't have to suffer any ill effects from this awful thing. I know how you must feel having a strange vet operating on him but he's probably very well able to take care of this injury and we will all be praying that your little sweetie sails through his surgery and post-op period in fine shape.

One thing I carry on my belt is an ultrasonic device called a Dazer II, which emits an ultrasonic sound only dogs can hear and it sure does seem to get dogs' attention when you press the button. It is supposed to be able to distract a dog that is focusing in on you or your dog.

Another thing I take out on walks is a large umbrella used as a walking stick that I can open as a shield held out in front when a kind of strange-acting lone dog is approaching. The theory is it presents a large outline and is intimidating to most dogs and they back off. Thankfully, I haven't had to open it ever as have had no more walking incidences since Jilly was attacked but once it has happened to your dog, you get pretty defensive about walking your dog without some type of protection since there can be an off-leash big dog that can come out of no where.

Keep us posted please on how little Hepburn is faring and please know your YT friends are keeping Hepburn and you in our prayers and thoughts.
