| Need advice AGAIN.... Just a few short hours ago I posted how well Maya was doing today. And she was. She was over whatever bothered her yesterday. We went to the vet as we already had a scheduled appointment for her rabies shot. The vet checked her out and after determining she was fine...she went ahead with the scheduled shot. Maya yelped a little but then was fine. And as reported earlier, afterwards she was playing with Deb and acting normal. When she woke up from her nap, she was walking on 3 legs. I know her leg is sore from the shot, but she is not using it at all. I called the vet and she told me to bring her back. SHe checked her out....she doesnt cry when you touch it...she lets you move it back and forth...there is no stiffness...but she wont put it down. She has no fever. When the vet set her down and held her up by her front two paws, she did put it to the ground for balance...which means she can use it...just doesnt want to because it hurts! The vet said to keep warm compresses on it tonight and she is going to call me to check on her tomorrow morning. Has anyone else had this reaction? What do you think???

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Cali would cry and yelp when i picked her up after the 3rd set of puppy shots, the first she had with me, the next set of shots I mentioned this to my vet and she said that there was new pain medication for small dogs it cam in drop form so she gave that to Cali for the shot and again 2 weeks later for her rabies shot and she was fine! maybe ask your vet if they have this. |

| Yes, I've seen this reaction in dogs after getting shots...people two! Sometimes the medicine will form a "knot" or "collect" instead of immediately dispersing evenly. Over a day or two, it will disperse and your pup will more than likely be as good as new. A warm compress will help...the heat helps the medicine 'disolve' more quickly. It may also help if you gently rub the area...if she will let you. Keep us posted. |

| Thank you for all the advice and well wishes. Maya is sleeping now and hopefully will have a restful night! She and Deb always sleep on the same bed, but it is as if Deb knows she doesnt feel good. She let Maya have the big bed and she is on the little one tonight! I will update everyone tomorrow on how she is doing!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I'm so glad she's feeling better too - I know they can sure worry us and when they have a boo-boo - they can be pretty dramatic...It's so hard to tell if things are serious or just minor - Glad things are better !! |
