OMG I am so sorry all of this happened. It is not right what was done to your family, sending prayers for all of you.
Little Basil I am so sorry your leg is broken, it's not easy but he will recover and be himself again real soon. Been there with a broken leg and surgery to repair it so i know what you are going through. If you need any advice or have questions on dealing with the recovery please let me know.

Steve!!! How horrible! I hope they find who did this to your in-laws, throw them in jail, and throw away the key!! I dont understand how people can be so cruel. You and Marge are wonderful parents to your little ones. Dont ever live your life on the "what if's". I know Basil will have a full recovery because you are caring for him.

This is awful Steve I hope little Basil gets better soon. You and your family surely do not deserve this. How awful for those crooks they deserve to be put in prison or better yet death penalty them for terrorizing elderly people. You have had enough stuff going on with your life so I pray everything goes well for you. Give little Basil a hug from my little Kinder. My husband and I think of all the things that can happen and we try to care for our little Kinder and the two parrots we have had for 24 years and thirty some years for the other. Last year our two parrots were in and out with colds in their air sacs. Well hope all goes well and glad nobody got hurt seriously except for little Basil. Take care of. Susan

Just seeing this- I am so sorry to hear about Basil- but yes accidents happen.

One of my parents toy poodles broke their leg when they were like 12 weeks old- it was only 3 days after my parents had brought her home. She was in a cast for about 6 weeks- but she healed perfect. She is about to turn 5 and you would never know she had an injury when she was a pup. The vet had said at the time- that puppies heal so quickly. Even with the cast on, she would just run around on three legs like nothing was wrong.

Give Basil lots of kisses and hugs from his YT family and I am sure all will be well in no time.

Sad to hear the horrible things that happened to your in laws. There are such horrible crimes going on now. I live near Atlanta and we have had several home invasions on elderly people. I hope they catch the ones who did this and they are punished to the full extent of the law. It is terrible that on top of this tragedy little Basil had to get hurt. He looks like he is doing ok. I know this is heartbreaking for you but I really enjoy reading your post and hopefully when you think it over you will reconsider about leaving YT. From what I have seen there are a lot of people here that love you and Marge and your babies. I am always telling people about the guy on YT that has a Great Dane and 2 little Yorkies. My prayers are with Marge and her parents and also with you and Basil and the entire family.

I've been in your shoes - almost. In my case I had an aging dad who took a fall through a screen door and had some serious injuries, while one of my cats was battling cancer and my other cat and dog were both up there in years. I know the near bipolar effect of having hope one minute just to have it come crashing down with a new piece of bad news.

I have been amazed at how positive you have sounded all along, and that you even had the energy to be so supportive of other YT people. You have every right to feel the way you do. I just hope that with a little distance from all these stresses and a lot of rest, you will feel better and be ready to jump back in to the YT world. You are a class act and I will miss you while you are taking a break.

Don't forget that you have a built- in support network here when you need it!

What a terrible ordeal for your in-laws to go through, and no elderly person should have to go through that fear. PTL that they are still here, and I hope and pray the fear doesn't stay with them. Oh no -- I am so sorry for the day your family has been put through! You are right -- it is the burglars fault for starting the chain of events! Glad little Basil's leg will heal well and that your in-laws are okay -- although I know emotionally they will probably never feel the same. Home invasion is such a traumatic event!

After all that stress, you are probably feeling spent and maybe a bit depressed. Hang in there and don't make any rash decisions. This too will pass. The important thing is that all are going to be okay. You have each other and that is no small thing! I agree about a break if you need it, but pls don't make yourself too scarce! I totally understand how you're feeling about Basil's accident. When Bijou was a baby my 17 year old dd had her on the couch when she fell off and broke her back leg. She went into surgery the next morning and recovered wonderfully. Now if you met her, you'd never ever suspect that she ever broke it. I'm so glad Basil is home and recovering with you all. ((((Hugs)))) to you and your family. Please don't let these jerks win by giving up on the good in life!!!!!

I am so sorry this has happened to you, Basil, and your family. Sometimes it is hard to understand why things like this happen to good people. It is hard not to get "down in the dumps". My uncle is a preacher and my aunt always says one that goes through trials will end up with a huge blessing. So, Steve a blessing is heading your way. I hope you will not go. YT members will be sad if you leave. I hope Basil feels better real soon and you and your family will be in our thoughts.

Steve, I'm just now reading what happened yesterday. I'm SO sorry that all this has happened! I truly believe there is a hotter place in Hell for people that abuse the elderly (along with children and animals) and sooner than later these sleeze-bags will get theirs!
I know that your nerves are quite raw right now, with the stress of worry for Marge's parents, little Basil's injury, Carlo's health and Maxine's age, but PLEASE know that WE (all us YT'ers) are here for you--ALWAYS! I definitely understand you wanting to take time off, but I hope that you'll miss us so much , that can't help but let us in on everything in the "household".

Basil is up and about, and finally eating. He is getting used to the Cast. You can tell he keeps looking at us wondering why am I in this X-Pen and not out with you guys. This will be a long month. Will take him back and have his leg looked at this week, then next week an X-Ray, the following week a look at it at the hospita, and at week 4, another X-Ray and hopelly the cast will come off. He may need a soft cast thought for a few weeks, but the vet is very confident it will heal just fine and no growth plates were involved. I have seen a ton of suffering in the early part of my life, but you take a whole different approach to events when older compared to when you are 18 or 19.

In-Laws are better today. Marge went over their this morning for 4 hours to clean the place and help out, and her sister is picking them up for sinner since she lives close to them.

Thank you for all the well wishes. We still feel terrible, and I did call my Brother in Law and told him it was not really his fault, and that I will not be killing him. It was hard to get those words out. He does feel real bad, and from this day on, no one but Marge and I will hold Maxine and Basil

oh how scary...I am glad basil will be on the med and your in-laws are OK after such a traumatic event.
