| Puppy Castration I had my smallest yorkie oakley castrated this morning. It has been so long since my oldest Chaco got fixed so I was just curious on this. I brought Oakley home at about 4 and I just now got enough courage to look at his surgical area (his jewels) and I noticed that like the testicals are gone but the sack that holds them in place is still there. It kind of looks like they just deflatted. I would call his vet but it is too late, their gone home. So I figured yall could maybe help. Is it normal for them to look like this? thanks! |

| Do you mean neutered? My pom was neutered a few years ago and he still had a little jewel sack until they started deflating like a mini balloon. It's normal for them to have the excess skin until they fully disappear.

| yeah I meant neuter, my vet called it castrate I guess she took a medical way of talking to me about it. I guess I was just so worried cause he only weighs a pound and a half at 13 months and everything he has done make me nervous and today he was neutered, had 8 teeth pulled and got shots and we got no pain meds so i was worried! thank yall so much!! |

| Hey, like everyone already said, yes, its normal. I also work at a vet clinic, and so lots of people wonder if that will shrink up. ANd most of the time it does if they are young. The older they are the more likely it is to stay, although it will still shrink up a little. Wow! That is alot of teeth to have pulled. Were they baby teeth that hadnt fallen out on there own? Or why did he have to have so many pulled if he is only 13 months old? Just curious. I am surprised they didnt give any pain meds. Seems his mouth will be pretty sore with that many teeth pulled. |

| Yeah he's only 13 months and about a pound and a half so I'm really REALLY hoping that shrinks because it hurts me to look at it and it's like the size of him. And no pain meds...at all. I feel awful but he seems fine. He's sleeping a lot and they said that was just the medicine they used to keep him sedated and it would eventually wear off. But his teeth were like this, ok he had double rows of top and bottom teeth. So he had two top rows and two bottoms rows. His breathe smelt absolutely awful, and he's the cutest little puppy ever but when someone holds him their like OMG he stinks! It's not that he stinks but his breath just smelt that bad. My main purpose in the vet visit was to discuss the teeth issue. I never thought she would take all of them but she did. She felt it was best interest for him so I let her take them. He's been eating ok, I just have to water his food down a lot. He's also be licking on ice in order to stay hydrated. |

| How is Oakley doing today? Do you know if he is still in pain? I'm very surprised that the vet didn't at least give him a pain shot before sending him home. Hope the little one feels better now, especially getting rid of all those baby teeth! |

| Hope your baby feels better soon... I just wanted to say that for future reference and for others reading this thread... it is better not to get vaccines the same day a surgery is scheduled, especially with small dogs. And remember, always get the Rabies done 3-4 weeks before or after the DHPP.

| Ruger also had a bunch of teeth pulled (baby teeth) when he got fixed, and no pain meds. With a Yorkie that small the danger isn't the surgery but the anesthesia. Sounds like your vet knows what he's doing. |
