Thanks for asking. :) Peyton is doing okay with the crate. If I am right next to him, he is fine. If I leave the room, he cries like crazy. Last night was the first night he slept in the crate. It was on the bed with us. God bless my husband, he didn't say a word...also, so thankful we have a king sized bed! His leg is not swollen or tender to the touch, so that is good news also. I have to leave to get the kids from school soon. I dread leaving him because I know he will cry. I guess I could put the crate in the car, secure it with a seat belt, and let him go with me? I love this sweet little guy more than I could ever say. I am really hoping this week goes well and his leg heals without surgery. Thank you so much for the kind words and prayer!!! |
I'm so sorry I missed this thread! I am glad he is doing better and hope he is on the road to recovery!! |
Oh gosh...Peyton is so lucky to have such a doting family!! :) Happy to hear all is going well! |
I'm just now seeing this thread... so sorry Peyton was injured.... keeping him and his family in my prayers for a complete and speedy recovery.... Hugs, Kathy... |
So glad to hear he is doing well in the crate, as long as mommy is right there.:D |
I just read through your thread and am so relieved to hear that Ladyjane was able to help guide you & your lil' man, Peyton! Your thread was very much appreciated to remind us how easily accidents can occur. I know how you feel tho' and I can't tell you how many times I could kick myself for lapses in my own judgement, even when I know soooo well not to do something...wonder why our brains allow us those lapses...heeheehee! :rollingey Well, here's a big:hug:for you and a gentle one for lil' man, Peyt:animal36n! |
I too just read this thread and kept thinking how wonderfully everyone's prayers were answered! I'm so happy for you and Peyton. It also reinforced to me how important getting a second opinion is. I'm glad I decided to do just that for my little one-- it's tomorrow (well, actually this morning lol), and they may be doing more tests to see the extent of her dysplasia so she can't eat after midnight tonight. But, as you found out, it will be very worth it to have an expert opinion. |

Day Three of extreme crate rest... The little stinker is doing pretty good. He still cries like crazy when I leave the room though. I pretty much do nothing but sit by his crate all day. Going to have to catch up on dome chores soon! This is really tough...I don't know how others have managed for weeks and weeks of crate rest. It will all be worth it if he doesn't have to have surgery! Just thought I'd give an update! :) |
I'm glad he's doing well in his crate. I wonder how he'd do if you carried his crate to whatever room you wanted to work in? |
it's just an accident. things happen and you sure can't beat yourself up over it. take good care of him and please let us know what happens at the vet. prayers and kind words. |

I am so sorry Peyton hurt his leg. I know how hard it is to keep them still. Jersey broke his leg when he was about 8 mos old. As long as the crate rest seemed at the time it did go by fast. Hopefully the crate rest will do the trick and Peyton will not need surgery. You just stay strong and it will be over soon.:) |
I am so glad he is doing well. I laughed at your post when you said you just sit by his crate all day. After Gilmore has his surgery I did nothing but sit with him for the first few weeks. My house was a disaster and the laundry was insane. LOL. Eventually we worked out a system because I had three months of crate rest to deal with. But it made me feel good to be next to him and I knew it made him feel better when I was right there. The chores were just not as important. Hope he continues to improve!!! |

And, yes, it will definitely be worth it! |
Just checking back on little Peyton. So glad to hear he is doing better. No swelling, not tender...that has to be a good sign. YAY. Will check back later. Keeping Peyton in our prayers. |
