My dog got diarrhea!!! Feed him rice+chicken breast?

Wow people, settle down. Obviously this person cares about their pet or they wouldn't be apart of this forum. The way the economy has been the past few years, we all try to save money one way or another. I doubt he/she is neglecting their dog or else they wouldn't have gotten on here to as a question after one occurence of diarrhea! Settle down people, and be nice to your fellow yorkie owners. Some of us are new to this puppy business and instead of jumping to conclusions every time something changes with our animals we want some advice. I mean seriously, if everytime your dog sneezed you took it to the vet you would be poor. This person likely just wants to make sure a vet visit is necessary before heading in. Just be supportive and continue to educate why diarrhea is something to notify the vet about, and why it's not something you should wait on to save money.

I don't think I can offer any advice until I understand whether Valentines Day is the priority, or your dog's health?

Maybe think about a time you were extremely sick, and what you'd think/feel if someone was weighing caring for you, or saving the money for Valentines Day.

Perhaps we all need to educate you about how many people come to this forum trying to avoid taking their pups to a vet and end up with a dead dog. People did try to suggest a vet and tell the OP about the problems with diarrhea and the OP chose to not respond.
Thanks for your feedback...be my guest and support those who don't want to vet their dogs. I personally cannot do that.

No matter what ,your dog should be more important than v-day, to try to save money bc of v-day is pretty sad. A person that would even say something like that, is obviously not that concerend.

Thanks for your feedback...be my guest and support those who don't want to vet their dogs. I personally cannot do that.

I am not supporting those who don't want to take their dog to the vet. I work in healthcare and see how the system gets abused, but I still believe in educating my patients and not criticizing them. Instead of assuming, which we all know what that makes out of you and me, that the people on here who pose questions before going to the vet are cruel animal owners, they likely are loving parents that just need to be educated about the consequences of making certain decisions. Of course there are idiots out there that only care about themselves, but that doesn't mean we are all idiots for asking questions, have some optimism in people and be a little less judgemental!

I suggest you go back and read every post. Then, instead of criticizing all of us. hop to it and advise and educate the op.

Recently, we've had a lot of dying pups on here due to various reasons; at least one of which appears to be lack of Vet care.

That's hard on a forum full of dog lovers.

So to whoever is criticizing our strong words, please review some old posts and look at some recent, devastating consequences.

No one wants to see a puppy suffer or worse - because the owner is saving money for Valentines Day.

Small yorkie puppies cannot tolerate vomiting or diarrhea for long. They dehydrate and die - as we all have seen here recently.

So any words spoken are only out of concern for the dog. Please go to a Vet and worry about Valentines Day another time.

When a person is unable to prioritize whether to obtain healthcare vs. saving money for Valentines Day -- it ceases to be a matter of judgment or a matter of the extent/quality of their love. Rather, imo, it becomes a matter of safety for the vulnerable creature in their care - whether human or fur.

If this is was a human child, and things of this nature were occurring, there are options in place whereby strangers and/or healthcare providers can report issues. On a dog forum, many members are very alarmed, only to be left helpless since many humans do not see animals as true priorities when their main goal here is to *not* see a vet, where they may 'waste' or spend money. When money wields this much power in someone's life, the luxury of time for education has often passed (but can come later, if amenable).

My degree is in healthcare too - and educating patients should only go so far - at some point, protection needs to take over - whether from themselves or for the sake of others. Education may be the goal, but safety always comes first in healthcare, always.

I almost lost my coop because I chose to pay for an operation on my cat. Thank heavens they extended my time to pay the maintainance. I don't care what anybody says, If you can think about Valentines Day instead of a dog that you say you love then in my opiion they are not worth sticking up for.

We just had a pup on here die last week because of diahrea and the owner not taking it to the vet even though they were told repeatedly to do so. Of course when someone says there priority is valentines day rather than taking a pet to the vet that is gonna pieve people and were probably going to voice that. Should we play patty cake with them or give them the message loud and clear that maybe theyve got their priorities mixed up

There's nothing I can say that hasn't been said!!!! I can only HOPE the OP read everyone's shocked responses and took her baby to the Vet esp. if the loose stools continued!

I highly doubt people would have reacted so negatively to the OP's post...had she not included the fact that She'd rather spend money on V'DAY..instead of her baby! That immediately lets us ALL know where her priorities are!!
