My dog got diarrhea!!! Feed him rice+chicken breast? Dont know what happened but my dog starts to have diarrhea since last night and he has watery stools..should i stop the regular dog food and feed him rice+chicken breast ? If so what is the amount to feed? he weight 7 lbs. Thats what my friend taught me to do, or should i buy over-counter medication to treat the diarrhea??? I wanna try some home remedies before going to vet since i need to save some $ for Valentine's Day. Please help! |
Yes you can give rice and boiled chicken, just give the amount he will eat.. Maybe start with 1/2 of a cup.. You can also give keopectate (sp) you can get it at like CVS, Wallgreens.. its the human one, just get the regular flavor. My yorkie is 4 lbs and I will give him like a teaspoon amount. If your dog still has an upset tummy later today I would take him in, Your dog should be more important than V-day. |
Yes, I would also stop the dog food. Chicken and rice always helps Taycie. I bought Pet Pectillin from Petsmart. It is an anti diaherra medication. My vet recommended this to me and it works wonders for Taycie. It is also is available at Petco. If diaherra continues I would with no question take him. Diaherra could be also be a symptom of many things, like parasites, worms, etc. that only a vet can treat, so I always err on the side of caution. Don't hesitate, there is always another V-day, who knows how many days you could have with your little one if it gets worse. |
Please spend the money for a vet. A pup just died on here because the owner didnt take the dog to a vet when it had diahrea. You dont know what is causing the diahrea. You can try the chicken and rice for 1 day but after that if he still has the diahrea you need to get him to the vet |
Valentine's Day is not as important as your dog. Please take the dog to a vet if the diarrhea continues beyond today. |

And PLEASE do not buy an over the counter medication for him. If you think it is bad enough that he needs medication, then he needs to be seen by a vet! |

I would say take your dog to the Vet. I just can't understand why you would think Valentines Day is more important than a sick dog makes sense to me at all. |
I'm stunned. I don't know how anybody could post something like that. Even if you are thinking it I would never tell a forum full of dog lovers that you can't take your dog to a vet because you need money for valentines day. I would give up anything if my dogs were sick. |
Hate to say it, but it is no longer shocking to me. No clue how these poor babies end up on the bottom of the totem pole like they do. :( |
I hate to be crude but people who feel that way shouldn't have dogs. Maybe a goldfish would be a better pet for them. |
Honestly its not surprising to me either. There is something about this forum that people get pretty transparent and let you know whats really on their mind. That and there are always people that dont want to spend money on a vet and want the answer to come from the forum |
Give your dog a valentines Day gift and take it to the vet. I would not try anything until you get a diagnosis from your vet. I hope your little one feels better. |
