| Puppy was vomitting now lethargic My little 3 month old Yorkie was vomitting last night, we think she ate something on the porch while she was snooping around. Took her to the emergency vet who gave her a shot which stopped the vomitting. He tested her and said she thankfully was not dehydrated nor did she have low blood sugar. She slept through the night but today she hasn't eaten anything. I have been giving her chicken broth and Nutrical but she is basically lethargic. I am so worried, will bring her to the vet in the morning, but can anyone tell me something to help me sleep tonight? |

| If she is still not eating anything and seems lethargic I would get her into the vet tonight. Since last night she could have become dehydrated- these little ones sure can go downhill fast.

| If she is not drinking water try to put a little sugar in it. That is what the vet recommended to us. What about calling the emergency vet if it is the same one? Or taking the little one in? I just recently had a visit myself and know how expensive it can be to go. However, I know within 24 hours Rosie went from ok to bad. So get your little one checked as soon as you can. Hopefully your baby will start feeling better.

| I have had her about a month and she has been perfect till last night. I am not too concerned about dehydration because she has a good amount of the chicken broth today. She doesn't want water or solid food, but I have been giving her the Nutrical that the vet gave me to give her to help with her nutrition. I really didn't trust the emergency vet, I think he plays on pet owners emotions and frightens them to get them to agree to some expensive testing. I will feel more comfortable with my own vet tomorrow. |

I understand that feeling completely. It is hard to see a "stranger" and trust they know what to do. When I took Rosie I called my vet first thing Monday morning. Just to know that everything was ok. Even my vet wasn't 100% happy with the er vet. You know your baby and will know if she should be seen. I would get her to my vet first thing in the morning. It is great she is drinking. They always told me that is more important than eating at this point. Of course eating will come. Have you tried boiled chicken? Rosie will usually take to that before she will eat dog food after she has been sick. Just a few suggestions.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am sorry to hear your baby is not feeling well. Does the ER vet have more than one doctor on staff? I have gone to the one by me and had a vet I didn't like and went back after the shift change for a different vet. Since you have been there within the last 24 hours they usually charge it as a revisit and not an initial visit and not as expensive. I don't want to scare you but these little ones go down real fast. Since she isn't any better I would take her in now if it were my baby. If you decide to wait until morning I would stay up tonight and if she gets worse get her in. I hope she feels better soon.

| I gave her the sugar water and she drank some! She may just be worn out from all the vomitting last night and not ready for solid food. I will watch her closely tonight and if she gets worse will bring her to the ER. Good point about the shift change Patti, I will go back if I could see another doctor. Otherwise it's straight to my vet in the AM. Thank you all so much for your advice and support. |

| Lexi ate some chicken and rice this morning and immediately started running around. Yeah! Unfortunately that caused her to spit up some food, but I see a huge improvement this morning. She's alert and looks so much better. We see our vet at 10:20. |

| Glad to hear she is feeling better and I'm glad you are taking her to your own vet. Hope you keep us posted on the outcome. I have a 3 month old shih tzu puppy also and so far so good but I am always watching him. Sometimes they pick up things from the floor and as careful as you try to be they always find something. I only trust my vet. |
