Just got home from the groomer's and now limping?!?

So sorry to hear this... I would be highly suspect of the groomer also or what went on there while she was in their care....

Awww poor baby! I agree about taking her in to the vet if she is still limping by morning. I would also have a discussion with the groomer about a small child handling your pup! I would not be at all happy about that. Unless I myself have instructed and know the child, I would not want them handling my pup at all. That is NOT professional either. I would doubt her insurance would even cover that sort of behavior. I am not anti-kid by any means, but yorkies are so much more delicate than most dogs a person comes into contact with that there is no reason to think a child would understand unless specifically trained.

Two of mine have had limps at one time or another. Most recently Annie, got knocked over as the other two started running in the back yard. It did not look to be much of anything as I saw it happen. But she yelped and limped from that moment for about a week. I had her in to the vet twice. The first time the vet thought nothing was broken, and decided we should give it a day or two. I waited a day and then requested an xray. All was good and there still was no spot where she cried out or acted like it hurt. She just continued to limp. We were going to have to go for an MRI when she suddenly just stopped the limping and was like it never happened. I will pray that it is the same for your little one -- hopefully she won't limp for a whole week like that but it will be great for it to be nothing serious too. They get soft tissue injuries just like us and sometimes it could just be a bruise.

Time to find a new groomer though. I just don't like giving second chances when I see them doing something as unsafe as letting children carry the dogs. I used one groomer that had just opened in our town. They did a great job on my Ben, even let me stay with him, which most would not do. But, while I was there, the owner told a man that she would board his dog that was being treated for heart worms. After she got off the phone with him, I told her I could not help but hear she was going to board a dog with heart worms. She asked, "Are they contagious?" My jaw dropped and the decision was made -- NEVER would I come in there again. New or not, some things you STUDY BEFORE you open! I told her how horribly contagious and deadly they are. I did say I was not sure about when they become non-contagious during treatment but that I would not bring my dog back knowing this. She called her sister who owned a grooming shop in the next town over, verified what I had said, and called the man back to say she could not board his dog. Then he changed the story and said his dog would just be finishing the treatment when he as scheduled to bring the dog in. Then she said okay to him about the boarding again (without any call to a vet to find out when the contagious period would be over or to check if his dog really would be finishing the treatment before the boarding date). I never went back. Any breach of safety just is not worth my taking a chance with my pups who depend on me to make the right decisions. I would put a child carrying my yorkie in the same safety violation group that would ensure I never used the groomer again.
