Just got home from the groomer's and now limping?!?
 
My Molly girl was just picked up from the groomer's and not she is holding up her back left leg. I have palpated her knee, hip, and foot...she doesn't cry out in pain. No stickers in her paw either. I called the groomer's and they said she was fine when she went out to potty and they didn't notice anything. When my husband picked her up he said a very little girl brought her out...I hope she didn't drop my baby:confused: I am kind of grasping here but I don't know what could be wrong. She looks pitiful when she walks...kind of hobbling but she doesn't seem to be in any pain. My vet of course is out of the office today. Should I worry or wait?

Hi welcome back! I was just thinking about you yesterday... hope all is well...

As long as she's not in any pain, no obvious swelling, I think it's okay to wait till morning. Maybe restrict her a bit to prevent further injury... JMHO :D

I would keep her quiet and no jumping at all until you can get her to the vet. I hope it is just a strain and she will be better in the morning.

Please let us know what's going on. My little guy squirms around a lot at the groomers, and one time he got clipped under the eye with a nail grinder. He's fine now, but at least the groomer was honest about what happened.

I'm not trying to imply that your groomer did anything, but there is just too much a coincidence here. Might have been accidently caused by another dog and nobody saw it.

I would not be happy if a little child brought out either of my two.
Check and see if they cut her inside the paw area...or clipped the nail too short. I hope they don't allow the child to handle the all the dogs, but if she brought her out then I'm sure they do. I would check all over and then find a new groomer.

I took my baby to the groomer a few yrs ago & she came home with a limp. Turns out she got her toe caught in the grate in the bottom of the cage & broke her foot. Now when I take my babies to the groomer, I make them take that grate out of the cage.

I agree! Anyone who would have a child bring out a tiny dog shouldn't be in business and I wouldn't be a customer again if they didn't change their ways.

I have seen them limp, also, when a nail was cut too short.

Same here, I would have had a talk with the owner. I hope your baby is okay and it's just a too short nail.

I was also thinking that it might be a nail that was cut too short. I hope she is better today.

Hope your baby is better today. I picked Kayla up from the vets one day and got home and she was limping. Scared me to death because of course the first thing I thought of was someone dropped her. I called and turned out the tech cut one of her nails down in the quick. Do you think maybe something like that could have happened?? Hope its nothing more than something like that. A child bringing her out would have really upset me.

Thank you for all of your support! It did get worse as the night progressed. Molly couldn't even hold herself up. She looked miserable all night. I felt so terrible for her. I had to help her out to potty:( My husband took her to the vet today.....She has a torn ACL in her left knee:confused: She also has mild luxating patellas in both legs. She will be limping for a while....anti-inflammatories, pain meds....I have been at work all day and have to work a 24 hour shift and I feel so bad because I want to hold my baby! Plus my husband never gets the info that my type A self does:D Do you guys think that the torn ACL was caused at the groomer's or is this common with luxating patellas?? It is just soooo weird because when she left she was FINE and when she came home she was NOT FINE. I feel like this was caused at the groomers but it could just be a coincidence.... I don't know. I just want my girl to be okay.

Hard to say, but my guess is the torn ligament must have occurred while she was at the groomer. I recently had a pup tear a ligament and she immediately went lame.
I strongly suggest you take her to a board certified surgeon and speak with him/her about this ligament tear. The surgeon I use said that they must be repaired surgically or the pup will develop severe arthritis. It is not a comfortable injury for them either. :( I am sorry to hear this. I would probably be pressing pretty hard on that groomer...if she is letting a child carry pups around, she is clearly not careful imho and/or knowledgable about how fragile yorkies are.

I agree, I don't think a torn ligament is lux-pat related. :( Get it in writing from the Vet though. I would think that your groomer should pay for the surgery.

Oh, a torn ligament is definitely related to LP. Pups with LP are more prone to tears in the cruciate ligament. It does sound like something happened at the groomer.
