Worried..swollen lymph nodes.

Thank you dollydoodle for your reassurance and hopefullness. I hope you are right, please pray for my Teddy, i will upload some pics of him. He is everything to me and I can't imagine life without him, I know all things must pass, but when it is so before their time, it is utterly heartbreaking. I am trying to stay optimistic, if the glands are still swollen by the end of this month, I will have them biopsied, do you know if this is done by a fine needle aspirate?

'Hi, Momo has the same thing, I think it also appeared after his 1st dental cleaning. I thought it was swollen lymph nodes & took him to the vet & she felt all his other lymph nodes throughout his body & they were not swollen. It ended up being his saliva glands, they're located right next to the lymph nodes on his neck. On his 2nd dental cleaning, they aspirated the saliva gland & did a biopsy, it came back as salivary tissue, no cancer cells. Momo still has the swollen salivary glands, but it doesn't seem to bother him (just me, vet couldn't tell me why it was there & I want to know why!). You can get your Yorkie checked out, it might not be the lymph nodes @ all, I hope he'll be ok!'

Hi Mimimomo, thanks so much for your reply too, it means a lot. How old was your yorkie? I would be frustrated with not knowing why the salivary tissue was there and the cause etc. Is your yorkie still well and healthy? Ted seems really good in himself, big appetite, no enlarged lymph nodes anywhere else, loves running around like a speeding bullet. I am praying that he is alright, he is my world x

Momo will be 6 this Dec. He's very healthy, active & eats like a widdle piggie! That's a very good sign that Ted doesn't have swollen lymph nodes anywhere else. If you want to be 100% assured, the vet can tell you if it's salivary glands or his lymph nodes. You probably don't need to do any aspiration or biopsy, it was something I requested bc I wanted to know what it was...even tho my vet told me it was his salivary glands & it was nothing to worry about. I'm kind of stubborn & a worry wort that way.

Well it sure sounds like your dog has something like what mimi's & the OP's dog had which sounds not too bad. Roxy/Roxie-I only had her for a year & never even settled on a preferred spelling of her name-lived almost another 3 months after I first noticed the lump. I decided on no chemo because it doesn't cure, only delays, & the sickness it creates. The prednisone & pain killer helped her live a pretty good few months. (I started sleeping on the floor with her when she could no longer climb the bedsteps & gave her really yummy food in the end, so she was pretty happy.)
