| tongue question I dont know if this is bad or a stupid question or not.. But is a tongue color change a bad sign in your baby? I never noticed before but Taylah's is more of a light pink color.. is this normal? or does it mean something?

| I dont know if their tongue changes color but when the gums are gray that means they are sick.

| Yes, it sounds normal. Here is a picture of my 3 month old puppy's tongue. If the gums are too light....kind of turning white-ish, then that is a sign of problems. Healthy looking pink is good. |

| I've never heard of tongue issues either but Chachi is right...the gums are what to look at. If her gums start becoming really light pink that can also be a sign of sugar shock/ hypoglycemia. I was told their gum color should closely resemble ours. I remember the 2 times Pochi went into sugar shock, his gums were so light pink they were almost white. He was lethargic and going into convusions. I had to pour karo syrup down his throat. It was scarey! After that I would check his gums often. He's now over 2yrs old and a big fat heffer (ok he's under 4 pounds but he acts like he's 20lbs)

| Pink is supposed to be good I think. Lighter and grey can mean anemia or illness, too red or dark is gum disease (just found that out the hard way!)

| Most Yorkies have pink to pinkish-red tongues. And others are right..the gums are the thing to keep an eye on. Some of the Biewers have dark gray tongues and roofs of their mouths much like Chows. BTW, my Biewer/parti litter was born on Aug. 7th. That must have been a good month for puppies...they are growing up so fast.. |
