Injury to leg causing LP?

I wish you and Lulu well. I can totally relate as my Gilmore had surgery for a luxating patella on Friday. He is only 10 months and never had a problem problem before.

Thank you. I am seeking a second opinion. Im sure she has it at least in her right leg b/c she shows symptoms, but I want a second opinion before I proceed with treatment options.

I wish your litle Gilmore well. I hope he recovers quickly.

My vet had wanted to do sedated xrays on Gilmore. When we had to take him to the hospital they told us they sedate him for the xrays and do surgery while he is already under if necessary. This way he doesn't have to be sedated twice.

Sorry to hear about Lulu, my baby Buddie seems to be going through the same problem. Yesterday he tried jumping on my couch and missed and landed wrong. My Vet said his knee is out of place and may need surgery. Im in the NYC area and I wanted to know if you or anyone around the area know of a good and affordable surgeon please let me know thanks. The prices I've been told are expensive, it can range from $3500-$5000. Any reccomendations would be appreciated.

Hi ! I'm so sorry to hear about Budie! I grew up in Brooklyn and now I live in Long Island. My puppy Gilmore just had luxiating patella surgery at Long Island Vet Specialists. The cost was $2900.

You may be able to get the sedated xrays done locally and then send them off to the specialist for a consult. Might ask to see if that is an option anyway. That way when you do make the trip to see him, he already has the xrays and you don't have to worry about having a sedated pup recovering on a 2 hour drive home. Just an idea.

With Grade 3 I am glad you are going with a specialist. My Jack Russell has LP in both rear legs which she has NEVER had a problem with. If she ever does develop a problem with the rear ones, I will be in your shoes, seeking an orthopedic consult. I discovered it from taking her in on a recurring front leg limp, and they did the sedated xray. Nothing wrong with the front ones. But they also found a place where her vertebrae were a bit close (partially flattened disk) on her neck and that is probably what caused her front leg limp.
