Odie's eye I just noticed that Odie's eye is puffy. It wasn't like puffy this morning or last night. I checked his eye, I can't see anything in it. It looks like he has a black eye, its not bruised just puffy. The eye looks normal except for the puffiness around it. He likes to play with my brothers Pom and she likes to kick her feet around. Maybe she scratched him around the eye or something? He is eating, playing, his normal self. Its not affecting him at all. His eye is still wide open. I'm kinda freaking out. Because he's trying to rub it and I don't know what to do to stop him from rubbing it. I wish I would have invested in a cone just in case. The vet is closed all weekend. They open Monday, I don't know if it's a emergency situation or his eye just got bothered by something and if it did how the heck am I gonna stop him from rubbing it until I can take him in.

I would not wait till monday, do you have an ER near by ? The eye could be scratched or could have a foxtail in it. The longer you wait the more of a risk there is of loosing the eye. If it were just extra runny it would most likely be ok to wait till monday, however swelling is a diff story.

Like I said he likes to horse around with my brothers Pom and she likes to jump on him. But vet visit is a must. Thanks again. Last edited by Roxy 87; 11-12-2010 at 09:24 PM. |

I would recommend you going to an Emergency vet. Eyes problems can become very serious very quickly.

My little guy just went thru this a few weeks ago. Knowing what I know now I would take him to the local er vet. If he wakes up with lots of eye boogies or starts watering a lot from that eye a lot its a sign of something that must be fixed by a vet. I wasn't able to see the scratch on my little guys eye till they put in special drops but once the drops were in I saw the cut clearly. Not to scare you but if the cut is in his line of vision and not taken care of he could loose his sight in that eye. If not his entire eye if he gets an infection thats not treated.
