My little guy just went thru this a few weeks ago. Knowing what I know now I would take him to the local er vet. If he wakes up with lots of eye boogies or starts watering a lot from that eye a lot its a sign of something that must be fixed by a vet. I wasn't able to see the scratch on my little guys eye till they put in special drops but once the drops were in I saw the cut clearly.

Not to scare you but if the cut is in his line of vision and not taken care of he could loose his sight in that eye. If not his entire eye if he gets an infection thats not treated.
