| Help...what could this be?!? Swelling...pic. This is day 11 after Bella's spay. She has localized unilateral swelling in the inguinal area. She's eating and playing like nothing is wrong. I've researched everything from tumors and infection to hernias and I am honestly stumped. We'll be going to the vet first thing in the morning but I'd really like to know if any of the YT members might have an idea of what this could be. I've uploaded a photo for reference. The swelling is hard and I can't "push it back in" so I don't think it's a hernia. It's almost like a a swollen mammary gland or something.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | After 11 days it should not look like that. Get her back to the Vet asap. I think she has an infection. Most of the time I take stiches out around day 12 and completly healed. Like I said..Go to the vet!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I agree! I've had numerous rescues plus my own dogs spayed/neutered and never had one look like this. The incision should be completely healed by day 11.

| I liked the medical jargon! Nurse or doctor? Yes any unilateral swelling in any living creature is a BAD SIGN!!!! I hope the vet appointment goes well and doesn't cost you. |

| Bella is ok! Well, for now anyway. Since Bella's vitals were normal and she doesn't have a fever, the vet feels that she has a swollen gland or lymph node. He did put her on antibiotics as a precaution and I'm to keep a close eye on her temperature. She's eating and playing and acting her normal bubbly self. He cleaned up her incision and took out her stitches and it looks healed already. The wound is very clean even though my cell phone picture makes it look awful. After he swabbed it up it looks great. I was so worried that my baby was septic! Thank you so much for the well wishes. I have been on conference calls all day and unable to post. And yes, I was a respiratory therapist previously. My family thinks I'm nuts when I describe something as unilateral... Now I sell hospital EMR's so I have to keep up on some of the medical jargon. If you guys feel my vet is mistaken, please feel free to post your thoughts. A second opinion never hurts!
