| 4 month pup doesn't want to eat today. When do you start worrying? Scarlett was fine yesterday, into everything. Then last night around 4:00 pm she acted like she was going to throw up but never did. She then became rather quiet. Two other times during the evening she did the dry heavling like she was going to throw up, but didn't. Then I could hear her tummy rolling. This morning she did eat some of her breakfast but not much. No lunch. I just tried giving her her supper and she doesn't want it. Even tried plain boiled white rice. Nothing. She seems alert, but just wants to nap. At what point do I start to worry about her not eating? If their stomach has been upset, how long until they feel like eating again? |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Do you have NutriCal? I would give some of that incase her sugars are getting low. It also acts as a appetite stimulate so sometimes it help them want to eat. If she was mine I would put a call into the vet to be safe. They can give you advice and usally tell you if it is neccessary to bring her in. I always err on the side of caution to be safe. These little ones get so sick so quick. It always helps keep piece of mind for me if I called the vet and she knows what is going on. If she is still turning her nose up at the food in the A.M. I would take her in. For me I am a worrier and a stress case so the minute I get worried I call the vet.. I just can't sit still.. hope all goes well with your little one! |

| I was getting desperate for her to eat something, anything. Then I remembered reading that you can give them Cheerios as a treat. So I gave her one and she ate it. Ended up eating 5 plain Cheerios. I guess that got her appetite going because them she ate about a heaping Tablespoon of white rice. She seemed to have some energy for about an hour. Now she is napping again. I will try feeding her a few more Cheerios and some rice in a couple of hours. I don't have any nutrical on hand. Maybe I should get some for times like this. |

| please check with ur vet; as stomach noises and not eating is not a good sign. what food are u feeding her. to get sick dogs to eat vets recommend green tripe; solid gold makes canned green tripe they sell it in petco. but you need to make sure she's not sick. i also believe they sell milk for young puppies; something like dogsure. good luck.

| Scarlett was still not eating this morning. I called the vet and they said bring her right in. The vet couldn't find anything wrong with just and exam. Gave her an injection of Cerenia for nausia, suggested I just feed chicken and rice. Within a half hour of the vet visit Scarlett ate a good amount of chicken and rice. I didn't overdo it cuz I want to make sure it stays down. She is sleeping right now. Hopefully this is it and she is on the mend. |
