Donating YT 30K Club Member | ![]() I am glad you are looking in to all your options. The Care credit is great to have. One of mine had to have LP surgery and since I had applied for it a few years ago for one of my other babies i was already approved. It is allowing me to pay a 2500.00 bill with no interest for 12 months. I hope that works out for you.

I often wonder if Gus is misdiagnosed . He has more spunk and arrogance than any dog i have ever owned. He plays hard and rough, loves to go on walks, has a beautiful coat, and shiny eyes. He gets what i call the wobbles about once a month.. which really looks like a hypoglycemia episode. However, sugar doesn't correct the problem and it takes him hours to recover. He does have get aggressive towards other dogs on the leash...but then again he isn't fixed. He doesn't do the head pressing, paper eating, frequent urination, pain, bladder stones, and he eats well. Its just hard to imagine this lil guy as a sick baby. | |

| ![]() I just noticed in your Flea thread that you say you used First Guard three weeks ago. Do you mean First Shield from Banfield? First Shield contains permethrin which can be toxic to some small dogs. By any chance did you notice his symptoms after you applied it? When did he get his bile acids test? |

| ![]() I really wish you the best with Gus. I know you must be sick with worry that he could have a potentially lethal condition. I would recommend that if he does have LS and he gets surgery, that you have him neutered at the same time. That way he won't have to have anesthesia twice. LS is a genetic condition and you don't want to take any chances. Plus, it should help with his agression. Please let us know how he is doing.

| ![]() After Gus has his little fits, does he not eat for a while. I ask because my vet explained to me, that Teegy's counts were off for liver shunt when the blood work was done pre-neutering. He told me the reason was because he hadn't eaten in 24 hours as per the vet's instructions and this would go back to normal. I was just wondering if you ended up with that result due to a long period without food. It's like us, Ketones appear in a urine test for humans when we starve prior to annual medicals. |

| ![]() My little guy had no symptons at all except that his bile acids were over 240...he didnt start having seizures until a week before his surgery. The only reason we found it was because my vet did a bile acid test when he was supposed to get neutered. I hope everything goes well for you and Gus. We didnt have the money either but I took it out of my IRA to pay for the surgery. We were also lucky in that the breeder gave us back twice what we paid for him (thats the law in NJ)... |
