| ![]() The problem with giving it is that it was causing her to vomit before. If it makes her vomit, then she is going to get more dehydrated. If she holds it down, then you may want to give it. Yes, pancreatitis patients should get nothing by mouth including water (not saying that is what this is though). White gums can be a sign of anemia or more likely in this case, shock. Maybe Nutrical should be given because of it, but that would be countraindicated for pancreatitis. So honestly, I don't think anybody here is going to have an answer. Perhaps rubbing some on her gums would help and not cause nausea. I can't say what to do though because..I'm not a vet. ![]() Are her gums sticky or tacky? That is a sign of dehydration.

My GSD got into the litterboxes one night. He literally pooped and vomited all over my ENTIRE house. There was barely room to walk without stepping in it. My poor Husband had to scoop it up with a shovel while I was at the Vet with him. I thought he was dying, because of how much had come out of him. Went to the Vet, they gave him an iv of fluids, a pill for diarrhea and told me to take him home, give lots of water, and a bland meal the next day. He perked up after the iv and fully recovered within 24 hours. Last edited by erinlee; 09-10-2010 at 11:35 AM. | |

| ![]() My mom just got up. She said gum is not white, but yes it's pale. She thinks Mocha's groaning because of nausea. She said some kids' vomit meds might do her good. I'm holding something called VOMITAS, active ingredient DOMPERIDONE. I have not given any, I don't know what it is. It's my sister's (10 years old) meds. Gums are not sticky. She's looking for water, she just went to the corner where I keep her bowl. She kept in the last bout of water about 1 hour ago. SHE JUST PEED! A lot. Is that good? Bad? I know no one's gonna diagnose her but a vet, and thank you everyone. I am just trying to stay sane.

| ![]() I just answered my own question. If she's peeing that means the stomach is still working right? Impossible for it to be bloat? Am I just shooting in the dark?

Just checked tummy. It's not as tight as before. This may or may not be pancreatitis, but I gave her some water. I think she's falling asleep. I'm gonna stay up. If her gums are still pale in the morning, the vet it is.

| ![]() Just seeing this thread. I hope everything is now ok. ![]() I noticed that there is quite a bit of confusion about assessing gums on pups. Here is a great link that might help! How to Check Dog's Gums ? Dog Gum Color Exam: Learn to Examine a Sick Dog for Gum Paleness or Discoloration

Well according to the gum color test, her blood capillaries are just fine. It's paler than usual, but not white. It's a great link.

| ![]() If I were you, I would take her to the vet today no matter how she is presently acting! Better safe than sorry. ![]()

| ![]() Bailey has IBD and chronic pancreatitis and i've never withheld water from him. Peeing is a GREAT sign, it means fluids are digesting through her system and hopefully starting to get hydrated now. I still would give her some canned organic pumpkin if she will eat it because it's a natural "cure" for an upset tummy for them and it works wonders! I don't know how many times i've relied on it!
