| Maybe as the big dog gets older, she will become less hyper and calm down a bit. I'm so sorry to hear about that scare though! I would have freaked out as well. |

| Judy, oh man, I am glad Lexi is just fine now.. oh man. I could feel you guy's scare. One night I forgot to put Cosita in her crate when we were falling asleep. She usually mingle with us watching TV in bed right before. My hubby falls asleep first and when I am almost doing it, I then put Cosita in her crate. Anyway, I felt asleep and I forgot to put her in her crate. I woke up about 3 am just to see my husband almost laying on top of her. It was dark so I couldn't see if it was her head or her end of her body. I grabbed her really quickly and I started shaking her: "Cosita, Cosita, Cosita" and she wouldn't wake up.. I felt a heat all over my body and a horrible scare that she was dead. Hubby started calling her as well. After few minutes (the longest of my life), she finally woke up stretching herself like saying: "Gosh leave me alone, don't you see I am sleeping?".. Whew.. I tell you, she ain't sleeping with us.. it would be so easy for us to asphyxiate her since she is so small and when you are asleep anything can happen and you won't even realize it. Quote:

| Wow. I Am So Glad That Lexi Is Okay. She Is A Very Lucky Girl. She Must Have A Friend Over At The Rainbow Bridge That Made Sure She Didn't Come To Soon. That Is Wonderful. About The Big Dog. That Is Scary, But I Seen Something At Petco -i Think - That You Put On Dogs Where They Can't Jump Up. Something Simple It Goes Around There Back Legs. It Trains Them Not To Jump Up. Maybe You Can Look Into That Instead Of Having To Find Your Baby A New Home. But If Not Then You Have To Do What You Have To Do. - - - Just Rememeber It Didn't Mean To Hurt The Little Baby..

| Thanks everybody. Now that several days have past and we have had time to calm down and think about it, we have decided to give Baily another chance. Hopefully we will not regret this decision but they are best friends. We are certainly going to work more on Baily not jumping up. (Spray bottle works well). After all, if one of my kids or husband accidently stepped on her we wouldn't give them away. |

| I totally agree with giving your lab another chance. I have five dogs, 3 of which are pretty darn big (35-50+.. all cute rescued mutts!) and the 4th is only 13lbs. But I could never give up any of my other dogs bc they had an accident with Harley. If their size difference is a problem then maybe you should just try keeping them apart and train Baily to be quieter/calmer and more aware of Lexi when they are together (under your eye every time). I think it's pretty unfair to get rid of Baily just bc he's bigger. I mean, what if Lexi was aggressive and was always attacking and hurting Baily, would you get rid of Lexi for Bailys sake? (sounds outrageous that a yorkie could hurt a big dog but Harley got ticked one night and left quite a painful bite mark on one of my bf's boxers before soo..) I hope I don't sound nasty or judgmental but I just personally can't imagine parting with one of my dogs especially because of an accident. I could understand if you had a really aggressive dog that just couldn't seem to fit in even after attempted training. (been there before) It must have been very traumatizing to see your little girl so hurt but just remember that accidents do happen but we can avoid them by changing our routines/habits. Without having to part with our beloved pets.

| I'm so glad you're gonna keep the lab...labs are so great and sweet. I'm sure you can train Baily to calm down when your husband comes home. Just takes some training...it can be done--you can do it! |
