| It is amazing how dogs can hide their illness and pain. It is a survival thing, but not so sure it does them well. Often we can be deluded by their actions.

| I have rescued several small dogs with liver shunts & all were saved & continue to do great . Since you are in NJ I would go to Garden State Vet Specialists & see Dr Thomas Scavelli. He is amazing! He saved my 10 week old Husky pup when several other surgeons said it couldn't be done. She has an intrahepetic shunt & portal hyper tension, & a blood clotting disorder. She is now 3 yrs old & doing great. He has saved 2 yorkies for us & a puggle with liver shunts as well. |

bile acids post meal 67.6 adult ref range 25. She is 4 yr old, the vet put her on Denamarin Same 90 mg tablets for 30 days. And MRX Hills Canine L/D, than she wants to retest her again. She said to wait for the ultrasound to ck for the liver shunt. I'm hoping it will b ok in 30 days, but I want to do the ultrasound now and not wait. She acts ok, she is her self. dont know what to do next or think if I should just get her a ultrasound now, or wait the 30 days, ????? bark@ulater !!!!! manina, miley max | |

| With the fairly low numbers you are reporting; and showing no symptoms; it would be very common to wait 30 days and re-test. With the diet modifications you have made; and with a little luck, her numbers could be near normal at next testing. Read all you can about it; be calm; and you will make wise choices for your pup.
