I really hope Max is OK. I feel so bad that the breeder was so unsupportive and cruel. She could have never dealt with this before but she should atleast be supportive and caring until she knows what is wrong with one of her pups. She obviously thought that you were a good enough Mama 5 days ago to have one of her puppies, yet now she thinks you haven't been watching him and he hit his head or something. I think you are handling it better than I would, I'm part Italian and I would've been all over her!! Take care and I hope the result of the test are negative and he gets better soon! Hugs & Licks! |
Oh yeah...we have a horrible problem with mosquitoes here....and many pups are coming up heartworm positive. It used to be not as common in the yorkies...but this past year or so we have had so many with heartworms. |
Just seeing this Karen. I will be praying for your little guy!! |
My vet started mine on heart worm preventative at 10-14 weeks. It could be a regional thing because the South is mosquito heaven compared to California. |
I've been thinking about you since I first read your post. I really hope you get good news today and that your baby is better very soon. |
Thinking of you this morning . . .I hope your night was restful . . .Hoping for good news today . . . |
I doubt the breeder is just now finding out something is wrong with him Im sure he exhibited symptoms with her and she knowingly sold you a sick pup |
I'm just checking in, Karen. I hope you're feeling better and got some rest last night. Give Cooper and Max huggins for me. |
Thanks everyone. I call at 9am for results. |
Hope you receive good news today Karen. This must be incredibly difficult. |
Praying for good answers! Hugs. |
Found it: or part anyway... file wouldn't open... Copied & Pasted from the link above. Written by Dr. Center: Additional Information; *It is no longer recommended to fast a dog for 12 hours before first collection or meal. The same size and type of meal that the dog normally eats is what should be used for the meal. *Test puppies at 16 weeks and again at 6 months. Dogs > 4 years of age can have other liver problems that will affect the Bile Acid test. *If the dog is stuffed or if the dog is frightened the test result can possibly be skewed. *The draw can be done one day pre feeding, then the dog can be taken home and fed and another draw done 2 hours post-feeding. It is not imperative it be done the same day. __________________ |

I'm guessing the breeder was shocked at being told that the puppy had LS. Perhaps she did not handle it very well, but that does not make her a bad person. We are only getting one side of the conversation here. Let's just give everyone the benefit of the doubt until we have all of the facts. Personally I'm confused at the vet being so sure that it is not the Sentinel. It very well could be.. Just because he has not seen a reaction before, does not meant that it can't happen. It's poison, and it's given doses that is also given to a dog 5 times the size of the puppy. |

I can believe how quick so many of you are to lynch the breeder without a diagnosis. |
This is not a situation to just "assume" anything. It isn't nice to bash someone's character with no facts. |
Please be respectful to me and not argue in my thread. Nobody is bashing anyone. I never TOLD the breeder he has LS. I gave her the symptoms and she said it's not LS. We will hopefully work together. There is no blame anywhere. I haven't even mentioned who the breeder is. My puppy is sick and I would appreciate support ONLY. |

This thread was supposed to be to help Karen and support her while she tends to Max. Let's not try to turn it into 'who gets to throw the first stone?' deal. Karen, you and Max have been on my mind since I started reading this thread and I sincerely hope that there is nothing seriously wrong with him. It'd be awesome if it was just a reaction to something simple. Let's hope that it's something like Mardelin's puppy and it's just a reaction to a medication. He's still a baby and he's had so many changes in such a short amount of time. Good luck today, I am really hoping for a good report. |

it was a general statement. |

* My suggestion at this point is to use the ignore button. :) It is not appropriate to argue and we should all be showing you love and support. :( |
OMG Im so sorry to hear that! sending prayers! |
Just for the record. I do not feel it is the OP who is bashing the breeder. it is a few of the respondents. And until the facts are in no one should be pointing a finger at anyone. The comment about PTS could have been taken out of context, we don't have the entire conversation. I know when you are upset, you want to find someone to blame, but it's best to wait until the diagnosis is made and the people are dealing with facts and not just suppositions. |
Just checking in to see how you and Max are doing today. :big_hug: I agree with Megansmomma. Use the Ignore button. ;) |
checking in to see if you got the results...said extra prayers for you & Max!! |
