I am so glad that Max test results came back positive . Hopefully he is okay and that whateve this is will clear up on it's own. Praying for you and gorgeous little Max . |
Will continue to pray for you and Max. Really hoping it is a simple thing! :) |
I was reading all these posts, and I wish you the best of luck. Good news on the blood tests, your little Max is gorgeous! I couldn't help but wonder if he had sun stroke at one point. Is it hot there right now? He might have gotten sun stroke at his breeders, and perhaps has not quite recovered yet. Just a thought. Good luck. He is lucky to have you! |

This is a web site dedicated to liver shunt issues, they are very helpful, most vets know little about this disease. Peggy Banks |
First chance I got to check in on you today and I am so happy that the initial bloodwork came back normal. One baby step at a time. You and Max are in my prayers! |
Have your vet do a bile acid test on your puppy, this would be the best test to check for liver shunt, it cost about $125.00. The breeder should have done a test on both of her dogs before breeding them, ask if she did this and what the results were. All good breeders do this. I will keep you and your puppy in my prayers. |

So sorry to read about your new baby. Just a little FYI, my 3 yr old female was having a really tough time....not eating, losing weight, lethargic; just wasn't herself. I went through all the vets in my little town with no results. One of them finally recommended Gulf Coast Vet. Specialist in Houston. They were great there! She was finally diagnosed with Addison's Disease. She now gets daily meds as well as a shot every 25 days and is doing great so far. I would really recommend this place if you have to get more in-dept exams. Sooo----just some food for thought. |

You're over the first hurdle, hopefully his BAT will come back okay. I can't tell you how happy I am that you are in this all the way for Max, I didn't think you would be able to return him. ;) Please try to remain positive and enjoy Max, although I know it is hard to do when you are so worried and then see him have one of the seizures. Hopefully he will keep you entertained while you wait for the next results. He is so precious and you really are blessed to have him and be able to give him the help he needs. |
First, I'm just a lay person. I can only comment on what I know for sure. I want to share an experience I had with my cat. About a year ago she was being treated with Atopica for a skin condition. She developed tremors, she would just sit there and her leg would start to shake. I read the side effects on the insert of the meds and low and behold, in very, very small print, and listed as one of the very rare side effects was tremors. The vet called the manufacturer and of course, they had never seen that as a side effect. I wasn't taking any chances, so we switched to prednisone(unfortunate, however, no choice), and while it took awhile for the Atopica to get out of her system, the tremors went away. I'm only telling this story in reference to the sentinel that Max had. Just wondering if they are still considering that to be an issue? I'm really hoping it is something as simple as that. Hugs for you and Max:girl_hug: |

Glad to hear the blood results are normal .... onto the next step. Keep the faith. Hugs...Kisses & Prayers sent your way. :animal-pa |
I just got off the phone again with Novartis. There is nothing that will counteract Sentinel and the 1/2 life is 12-28 days. Again, we don't know if it's the Sentinel but it's on the list. I spoke with someone who had a very similar situation when her puppies were 10 weeks old. They were diagnosed as having focal seizures and her explanation is almost identical Max's. Max will never have 'an episode' while playing. He is always sitting, laying or still and focused on something. He may go to sleep directly after and never has an episode while sleeping. |
Sending prayers for you and Max that he will be completely healthy. I am thinking about getting another little girl but it makes me nervous to think about the health issues that could happen. |
I haven't been on in a couple days and have been reviewing your thread. I'm sending good thoughts and prayers your way. My Jacie is special needs (don't tell him tho). He has cerebellum hypoplasia. He does the tremors similar to Max, but he doesn't do the sliding down with it. Jacie doesn't do it all the time, mainly when he's stressed or concentrating on something, like dinner time. Our assumption is that it was caused from a brain injury, but we'll never know for sure. He leads a perfectly normal life. I hope whatever your baby has is either fixable, or is something he could live a normal life with. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this and your breeders reaction as well. We took Jacie as an adult knowing of his issues. |

Max is such an adorable little boy. I've loved watching the videos and Max and Cooper playing. I am so happy Max came into your life; you are his angel. I'm sorry you have to go through this pain and uncertainty right now. I know how much you love him, and I am sure that Max loves you too. You and Max are in my prayers. |
Karen stay positive, so far so good. Still have you and Max in my thoughts and prayers. |

Here is a bit more observation as I'm getting to know Max a little better: He is still having episodes although I'm not quite as afraid because there's nothing I can do right now. I'm learning about them but still have no idea what it is. If he is in an episode, I can stop it physically or verbally. If i touch him he stops. If I call his name he will pounce at me with kisses. If he's very still I can even at times induce it by keeping him still. I can try to control it in advance if i keep him active. He will never "seize" or whatever it is as long as he is active - playing, eating or whatever. He will generally fall asleep afterwards and never do it in his sleep. I don't think that eating or not eating has nothing to do with it. I'm not seeing any differences on an empty or a full belly. Only if he's very still, he does it. I just wanted to add as much as possible in case this is familiar to anyone else. |

Maybe this is something neurological?? |

I'm praying he overcomes this. Maybe it was the sentinal and it will eventually wear off. You are being such a great mommy! We are all here for you. |
