I agree fully! Also, I would keep a little journal of time and length of his episodes to have full documentation of them. I know we are all jumping to conclusions as it is hard to wait for the blood test results, but I hope you truly know that everyone is hoping for the best outcome for you and for Max and that you'll be in our thoughts and prayers. |
OMG, you poor thing, I feel your pain. I hope it gets figured out. I don't know about LS...My thought is a reaction to Sentinel...it's a poison, so wouldn't it still be in his system:rolleyes: if it was given to him on Monday, therefore STILL causing symptoms?? I don't know, it sounds like he was fine UP until this point......Sending strength your way... |

This is a quandary that any compassionate dog lover like you never wants to have to face. For now you know what to do, get all the tests done necessary for the well being of Max. Leave on hold (as much as you can ) the emotional dilemna. You will make the right decision at the "right" time for you, Max and your family. Know this to be true. So many warm thoughts and Hugs going out your way. |
Me and my lil Brooklynn pray for the two of you. Listen you have to get down on your knees and laid your burden down to the lord. But most importantly once its laid down.... YOU HAVE TO LEAVE IT WITH HIM AND ALLOW HIM TO WORK IT OUT. I believe he is going to be fine because your love alone for him will save him. |
My heart is breaking for you and your new puppy.:( |
Thanks everyone. I cannot stop crying. I know I may be jumping the gun about LS but i really think something is very wrong with him and I'm scared. I'm going to go lay down and let him fall asleep on my chest now. |
I'm praying for you and Max...I hate that your going through this with your little one. We fall in love the minute we meet them and that love never goes away. I know you will do what's best for both of you... Good luck and Prayers.... |
I'd like to add that this litter has been eating Eukanuba. I know that Eukanuba has been recalled, but I don't know if it's the kind these boys have been eating. I sent the info to my breeder, however it doesn't seem that salmonella would cause Max's symptoms. |
Prayers for Max Sending prayers to you & Max....I know how you feel since Molly was sick and brought to ER after only being with us for 3 days. Waiting for her blood work & diagnosis was so stressful. I was very greatful that everything worked out and she is now a happy, healthy puppy. |

Have you looked up the puppy lemon laws for your state ? As some states will let you keep the pup and the breeder has to rufund your money and pay all medical costs. |

Did she have the parents bile acid tested before breeding them? Did she show you proof before you bought Max? |

I suppose I have to wait for test results. This whole situation just stinks. He knows his name already and pees outside in the grass. He's a wonderful boy and I am just feeling overwhelmed with emptiness all of a sudden. |

I already checked and Louisiana doesn't have puppy lemon laws. :thumbdown Still, if this is a reputable breeder, her reputation will be important to her. Hopefully she will do the right thing if only to protect it. |
Is your vet familiar with AAI, Chiari and GME as all can have same symptoms and LS can also present same as these as well. I know you are going through hell rite now and I just added to it but you need to talk with your vet about these things ASAP because it could be any of these things. I will be praying for you and your baby. |

I've been in your shoes ~ worried to death about a brand new puppy; wondering about my breeder; worried that I'm going to lose my little girl. . . . I wouldn't wish that on anyone. For all my worries, Lucy is still here; still healthy; still playing. Yes, she does have liver issues that must be monitored ~ but, so far, that's it. I cried; I prayed; I questioned all my choices ~ but here she is and things are fine. I hope that everything works out for you and this is something you can quickly get to the bottom of. I can hear the stress in your posts. Prayers for both of you. |

This could be Toxicity from the pill and exacerbated from one of these underlying conditions as well. Actually any of these conditions could be responsible for Toxicity from the pill. If his system is not running properly from any of these things the pill may not absorb and leave his body properly. |

Max won't lay down. He's crazy like his brother. He wants to run and play. I just fed Max and he ate very well. Shouldn't LS symptoms appear more severe after feeding? nevermind. he was just sitting and wobbled his head and fell into a lay position. |
That's what the literature says. |
You also have to keep in mind that even if the blood works comes back indicating a problem with the liver that does not necessarily mean liver shunt. Vaccinations and medications like the flea and heart worm meds can effect the results of the blood work. Do you know what vaccinations the breeder gave this puppy? Was he given the lepto shot? Please try not to worry. We are all praying that his symptoms are just temporary. Another thing to consider it that if he does have a liver shunt and the breeder refuses to take him back then you can possibly turn him over to a yorkie rescue group that can give him the medical attention he needs. I feel strongly that the breeder should refund your money if he does have a liver shunt. |

The breeder just emailed me that she will NOT take him back but will give me a replacement. She feels that something happened to him while in my care. I'm not ready yet to disclose who this is and everything that has been said, but am prepared to do so if necessary. A rescue? Dear God. I can give him the medical attention he needs I think. It looks right now that I will have to take care of him no matter what the results are. I certainly don't think that I should be putting him to sleep (as per the breeder). |
ADB- don't let your mind run that far ahead yet. You'll drive yourself crazy with worry and it won't do you or Max any good. Just take a deep breath, give Max a cuddle (if you can stop him from playing for a second) and focus on what's happening right now. Wait to see what happens with the blood work, then go from there. It's already very clear that you love Max and consider him part of your family. So try to stay focused on him and not what someone else is doing/saying or not. You can deal with them later. |
I agree with RhettsMom...and I am too keeping you and dear Max in my prayers. |
