| Help, Deucy blood work and Vet prescribed BATRIL I need any information on any of you giving your toy yorkie BATRIL..Deucy is still acting sick and today, took him to the Vet. Blood work showed Liver enzymes WAY out of control..he had a temp too...Vet gave him an enema as well. He poops every day but, anyway. This BATRIL...he prescribed 5 mg twice daily. Has ANYONE ever had a bad reaction from a toy yorkie on this antibiotic?? I'm waiting to hear from some of you BEFORE I give him even one pill. PLEASE write as soon as possible. My email is faster dandme2010@gmail.com. THANK YOU and please hurry.

| I have given Batril many times to pups and never had a problem. Anything can happen, but if he needs antibiotics perhaps you should give them? Did you discuss possible side effects with the vet?

| Thank you for responding!! Were the pups you gave Batril to "toy yorkies"?? I'm just afraid he'll have a worse reaction to it..so scared. I did tell the vet that he was highly sensitive but he tolerated the liquid antibiotic last time well. It just wasn't enough to kill the infection. Have you heard of anyone having given this and got a bad reaction from a toy yorkie???

| All yorkies are toys. I have different sized ones from 5 pounds to 12. I have never had a problem with medications, but reactions can happen at any time. You need to weigh the benefit vs the risk. I don't know exactly what your pupster has that he needs the antibiotic for, but I would think there might be more of a problem by not giving it. Also, please make sure that if you give him antibiotics, you give him the entire prescription. No one can give you an iron clad guarantee that he will not have a reaction, but honestly reactions are not all that common.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have had my pom and a yorkie on Batril with no problems. What type of reaction has he had before? Is your baby the one that is now pooping blood? I would get him to a vet ASAP. Please keep us posted.

| I have been prescribed Baytril for one of my bunnies that had an upper respiratory infection. He is a teeny little dwarf bunny and did really well with this antibiotic. It is the ONLY antibiotic a bunny can take. I feel your vet is the best person to ask these questions. Would not have prescribed it if it were not needed. I agree, give your little pup the meds as prescribed so that what ever he has starts to get better. The longer you wait, the longer it will take to get into their system to get rid of infection. In regards to pooping blood, that definitely needs to be checked and also agree, get him back to the vet right away. Not good to wait. Little animals, their health can decline quickly without proper medical care. Praying for your little one. Please keep us updated. |
