Dr just said for a few days, then back to regular food, but no more lamb. If I don't try to force feed her and don't give her lamb then she should be fine. I guess it's not as bad as I initially had thought it was. Just finish up her antibiotic and the pepcid stuff.

I am glad to hear you acted so fast and got her the treatment she needed. I am sure this helped in preventing this from becoming a major issue.

I give the credit to my YT family for all I have learned and knowing when to get her to the vet! LOL

Mini update: Uni ate some kibble!!! I think about 15 pieces?

Glad to hear that you got it figured out. Hope now she will be feeling better soon. I agree with Deb to let her poor belly heal, its important to let her insides heal up. Your such a good momma, give her some extra loving and hoping she starts feeling better soon!

Good catch!

Lamb and pork, gravies, sauces on veges, cheeses, fats, grease, bacon can all cause pancreatitis. Feeding one large amount all at one time, or small amounts over a period of 5 - 7 days can cause it.

You were very lucky and caught it early.

My DH fed Peek a Boo a little piece of American cheese one morning (unknown to me), and over a two week period he had increased it to almost a whole slice.

I came in the kitchen one morning, and Peek was hunched up in the back. I looked at DH (now dumb husband) and asked 'Okay, What did you feed him?'
He said 'What? I only gave him a little piece of cheese!'
I said 'No, Exactly what did you give him, how much, and how many days in a row has he been given it?'

He's looking at me weird. I said 'Look at him! He's just about bent in half and can hardly walk! We're going to the vet NOW! Get YOUR wallet out, you did this, you can pay for it! (I don't work: it's all his money, anyway)

He asked,'Well, How much is this going to cost?'

I answered, 'I don't know. Could be $200.00 or $1-2000.00 or more! It depends on how sick he is.

He needs bloodwork first, then he may have to stay in the hospital on IVs for 5-7 days... If you're lucky, he'll get pills and can come home!

Thank God we got lucky, and , like you, we caught it early. Less expensive that way. And less traumatic for the doggies.

But it could get very bad, and always be aware of it bc it could happen again, just know it's best to take them right to the vet to be sure.

And I'm so happy Uni will be feeling better soon. Remember, You're the Foodie, not her! Watch the nutritional content of any treats she gets too. Moderation is the key.
(A/D=yum? Ha, spit my tea on that one!) That may work better! You eat her food instead of you feeding her your food! (JK) Give Uni hugs from us!

Thanks for sharing your story. We were always careful about not giving her fatty people foods, not ever thinking that a premium brand dog food wouldn't agree with her. Even the vet said, it's a good food, it just may not be good for her.

And the yum comment I meant about deviled ham (since the a/d smells like it). You know that stuff in a can? I used to eat it as a kid. Haven't ate it in years, i prefer pate now, but takes me back!

yep I always say if you want to do that get your credit line increased dh lollll He usually backs down as he knows how much I spent already. What is it with men and food? I tell him go dress them up in a dress and stay away from their food lolll

yeah I always say the best food is the one that works now especially this breed since they have such sensitive stomachs

I'm sorry, I didn't realize it was dog food! Oh, that is scary! But also why to watch them constantly!

Oh you are right, I never said it was dog food lamb! And I had some indian style lamb shank today, and Uni was looking at me with those big eyes. That's when i tried to feed her and she ate!

Have you ever had spam masubi? A hawaiian favorite. Basically spam sushi.

Fried bologna w/ mayo? sounds great! I used to put margarine on my saltine crackers too. I have NO idea where I got that from!
