Hello, I hope all your animal companions are Just fine! My Gizmo had a tick right on topof his snout, a little after his nose. Unfortunately, I pulled it off with my hands. Hey, we need to tell it like it is/was...lol. I put some hand sanitizer on it *we were in the car when I noticed it" I always pet him at the when we stop for the light. I thru the tick out the window. It's been about a week. I noticed that there is a small lump in the area that the tick was on him. I have put some antiseptic on it. I read that if the head remains in his skin that his immune system will eventually discard it. He is playing, eating and running. No ill symptoms. What do you all think? I value this site and all of you and your babies too! Thanks from Gizzie and me

Well Mr. B is doing fine, thanks for asking...I had to to the same with his tick..As long as he has Frontline or a tick preventer you are ok if the head is in him..It will die..As for the bump..Mr.b had the same thing and it stayed red and puffy with a puss spot on the top of it..I was told by the vet perixode it and Bacetracin..He is good to go.The tick was on his snout too!! So what I ended up doing was perfect by what my vet said!! Good luck!!

Hello, I am happy to hear that Mr. B id doing AOK! Thank you so much for responding to my post. I will follow your advice (vets advice) regarding the bump. I have put a natural flea and tick repellent on Gizmo. I have faith that he will be just fine. He's a real trooper ! Thanks again!

If you didn't get the head, which doesn't happen very often, you can cover it with some vaseline to kill it, or you can put some alcohol on a Qtip and apply when the head is. The dogs body defences will get rid of it. Even after I remove a tcik, head and all, I still put a small dab of alcohol on it. Many times the tick will leave a small bump where it had been. Sometimes they go away and sometimes not. My lab has 2 bumps he's had for several years. The vet says not a problem. Only if they get red or infected. You can get a lyme shot for your baby that helps if they are somewhere where there a lots of ticks, which this year appears to be almost everywhere. | |

Hello, Thank you for your replies. I will take all your advice and apply it to my lil Gizmo. The lump is still there. I am checking it daily to see if it goes down. He seems to be just fine. I will keep you all posted. Thanks again
