3 Month old yorkie fell on the floor :( Hi Everyone, New to this forum and under unfortunate reasons. I have a 3 month old miniature yorkie, we were both sleeping and when i woke up, i didn't see she is on the blanket, i turned around and she fell down to the floor. She didn't at all cry or made any noises, i believe she was in a coma for a couple minutes. After a couple minutes she moved and showed a sign of life, couldn't at all move her head which was leaning to the side. I rushed her to the vet which gave her a vaccine (i was in a shock and can't remember the name of the vaccine), and said all looks fine and to see how she is later today. It has been appx 16 hours since she fell and she did get up for a little bit a couple of times but even when she have, she was nothing like always, very quiet, confused and weak. She vomited 3 times today, barely eaten (and i made her chicken which she would definitely eaten with pleasure any other day. I am extremely concerned, i would appreciate any feedback on what else can i do, is it normal that after so many hours she still is so weak? Thanks in advanced for your help, Alesa. |
Do you have some Nutrical you can give her or if not, some Karo syrup? Is she drinking. These tiny ones can dehydrate quickly. |
I gave her some sugar water which she drank very little of, she later drank some water but not too much, i will try and get her to drink some more now. Thank you Sophia. |
Hi - I'm so sorry to hear about your baby's accident. They're so little - it's really scary when anything happens to them. Weakness, loss of appetite, vomiting & diarrhea are not good signs. Please take her back to the vet right away. |
kind of sounds like a concussion..?? might take her a few days to return to normal GOOD LUCK! i hope all will be well |
If you have a syringe you can get her to drink more because she'll have to swallow it. I use that with my puppies when we're on long car rides and I know they should drink more. |
just wanted to send you hug's |

Did they give her a vaccine or did they give her a shot of decadron (a steroid) to reduce swelling? It does sound like she is still showing symptoms of a concussion. I would take her back in to the vets tonight. It sounds to me like she may need to be observed over night, and possibly be given IV fluids to prevent dehydration and hypoglycemia. |
She had a little more to drink now, i called the vet and explained the situation, he said it is not common but understanable she is how she is now, hopefully she will feel much better tomorrow or i will take her to the vet again obviously. Thank you all for the advice and well wishes. |
i think she should have stayed the night too..im surprised they sent her home i had a puppy this happened too..and they gave him a shot (steroids) and kept him for a couple of days i would think they would have instructed you (after she had been kept a couple of days) to keep her confined and in a dark quiet place to recover will little interactive except some love and food and water and any meds they prescribed |
1 Attachment(s) Unfortunately i am not sure if he gave her steroids or something else, i will check and update on that asap. Attached is a picture of Koko in a better day. |
awww what a pretty pretty girl |
Oh wow, she is adorable! Keep a good eye on her. |
What a cutie! I hope she feels better soon! |
She is beautiful! I'm happy you called your vet back but I am surprised that they didn't want to see her. Please watch her carefully tonight and make sure she gets a little Nutrical several times to keep her sugar level up. Please let us know how she is in the morning. |
Aww poor baby....Shay had a concussion last fall, when he jumped up on my husbands ankle (just that high)..and fell over onto his head..we thought he was gone, just layed there..scared us to death..after rushing him to vet, he showed signs of coming out of it, once we got there and it took a few days, for him to be back to his normal adorable self....I hope your lil gal is feeling better tomorrow! |
I hope all goes well, keep us updated when you can.... |
Not head bands for the yorkie,,,,,,I',m just THROUGH.....Lord is she ever cute. |

Hi Everyone, Over night and this morning koko's condition gotten worst, she was weak and we drove her to the vet, he recommended we leave her for 24 hours which we did, they took a blood sample and everything came back fine, x-ray also is fine and hopefully now that she will get what she needs through the infusion i pray she will be back to her own self tomorrow. I will keep you updated and thanks again for the support, well wishes and compliments :) |
Oh no! I was hoping for better news! Poor baby. I hope she is doing better soon! |
I'm so sorry your little girl's not feeling well - She is in the right place to give her the kind of help that a mommy love just can't give - and I'm sure she'll be back to herself in no time. She sure is a little cutie!!! She'll be in my prayers for a speedy recovery! |

Please keep us updated. She's too adorable not to get better! Good Luck! |
I am so sorry this happened to your precious little one, I will keep her in my prayers, I hope she makes a full recovery, hugs. |
I am sure by now that they've taken X-rays to see the inside of her head. Moscow is a big city. There are universities. Perhaps you should ask your Veterinary doctor to consult with one of the teaching colleges at University? I hope she is doing better today. She's so young and tiny (and so beautiful), but very fragile. Please let us know how she's doing: there are a lot of people over here who are now very interested in what happens. |
