Daytime techs at a busy office can get into 'appointment mode', just like night time techs get into 'emergency mode'. They deal with so many appointments, they actually forget they do emergencies, unless it's a bleeding/unconscious animal. Or, they may have thought they were saving you from having to pay an emergency visit fee. Whatever reason, they weren't thinking sending a hurting animal back home to wait with a very worried owner, just to make the trip a second time, which could cause additional injury to the pup.

The reason i go to this vets office is cause there's one doctor there who i think is great. He's not one of the owners...but i know he has little dogs of his own and really knows his stuff. I think things are the way they are over there cause of the owners. Way back when it was a small vets office, it was great. They then expanded to like 8 different doctors and now its a "business".

I guess what kills me is that I told them he wasnt bearing weight on it..which meant he could have broken it..but they would have never known that because they never even looked at his leg.

I'm glad it wasn't broken.... hugs and belly rubs to Squale. And a hug to you for being a great Yorkie Mommie and rushing him straight away to the vet.

It's worth putting up with some crap if you have a vet you really trust and like...

I am so sorry you had to go through that i would have sat right there and loudly spoken to my dog about the horrible service!

my emergency vet ( the only time ive used them knock on wood ) was amazing I COMPLETELY broke down couls hardly fill out paper work and they were really comforting and kind she came out from behind the counter the MOMENT i walked in and looked her over she treated her like she was her own pet and it calmed me down more then finding out what was wrong the entire time i was there her and i were treated very well constantly checked on while we waited and this is before we even saw the vet she was awesome didnt make penny stand on the table ( she hates the metal surface ) she held her and kissed her talked to her and called her beautiful examined her whole body even though we were there for just her paw we were totallt treated like family.

It's a Georgia thing, too.

I guess I've always been lucky with my vet. When I call with something urgent, she asks me how soon I can be there.

I hope your little guy feels better soon.

Awww you are so sweet to check in. He is doing MUCH better. You cant even tell he got hurt. I try to keep him still...but he is NUTS!! I have just recently found a new vet office that I LOVE since they have walk in hours every day, in addition to appointments.

I hate to leave the vet I have been taking my kitties and my other puppy for all their vet care.

I will probably go to both vet offices. I found the vet office I have gone to for so many years, will usually not be able to see an emergency "patient" because of how busy they are. So, finding this other vet, with walk in hours 7 days a week, is good to have available also.

I know if I were told to come back in a few hours, I probably would have been calling other vets for my "baby" to be seen immediately.

Glad to hear your "baby" is going to be OK.
