I shook my head as does not sound like LP to me so glad your vet is a little more diligent in recognizing that so sounds like he is looking at all options.

I would not do LP surgery unless she was in pain or lifting her leg or leg was constantly going out of joint. I would get her on cosequin and build her legs by walking up stairs as FL TINK works for orthopedic and she said that is what he recommended for her dog to strengthen the patella. But right now I would not do ANYTHING until at least 2 months have passed as onset of my friends maltese started with legs going out and then by 2 months she had full blown GME. The onset of GME is very slow and then hits them like a ton of bricks and many vets are not very familiar with this disease like they are not familiar with liver issues. Vestibular can be ruled out with the eyes but gme cannot be ruled out with anything in a neurological exam. Dogs with gme are in a lot of pain too so watch for that as you described panting and shaking so maybe when she was walking her spinal cord was getting inflamed and thus legs went out and she was in pain. I do not know but I do know it did not sound like LP to me either.

There are things as strokes in the spine as well which happened to little abner on here as well but your girl is so much younger than little abner so really doubt that is what is going on.

Were any xrays done to rule out LP and disc issues or neck issues as that is what I would do first and also have infectious disease blood work up done if it has not been done. These will rule out any spinal structure issues and lyme issues which I highly doubt lyme but good to rule out. Any more episodes you can start there. Due to it being back legs not front tells me it is not neck related and more lower spine.

You can see on xray if a dog has LP 4 as the patella will be off to the side as dd had xray done and it was clear as day they were out and no manipulation can be done.

Make sure digital xray done as digital is much more clear than regular xrays to pick up more definition than a regular xray machine and they are so tiny you want to see anything that might be off.

If it happens again I recommend getting a video of what is going on with your camera so vet can observe it.

So they just use a steth to monitor then? Do they do pulse oximetry or anything?

Did you find a food that she will eat yet?

She will have a continuous pulse ox. I have bout given up on the NB Vegetarian. Sticking with the Wellness until I find something she will actually EAT. And she barely eats the Wellness . . .she misses her Purina puppy Chow that her breeder sent her home with.

I did discover she really, really likes yogurt and will eat the Wellness w/yogurt.

No beef, lamb, or turkey has touched her lips. Had to put a little chicken broth on her food to get her to eat anything tonight.

She does not eat enough to keep a bird alive.
